Wide-fat neck profile feels great and plays smoothly

The PRS SE Standard 245 is fitted with PRS's wide-fat neck profile. A hallmark of PRS quality, neck shapes are, of course, critical to your playing experience. Perfected after years of prototyping, the wide-fat neck is based on designs Paul Reed Smith did in the '70s and '80s for Carlos Santana, Peter Frampton, and Howard Leese of Heart. The SE Standard 245's rosewood fingerboard is butter under your fingertips. And with the iconic bird inlays, no one will mistake your axe for anything other than a PRS.

Fat tone from a pair of humbucking pickups

The PRS SE Standard 245 is fitted with two PRS-designed 245 humbucking pickups. Check it out - you've got that chunky neck in your left hand, and you're voicing mellow chords one minute and tearing up the fingerboard with an insane fusion solo the next. You need versatile pickups to do your playing justice. You got 'em. Take it from the Sweetwater crew - the PRS SE Standard 245 has the tones to take your music wherever it wants to go.

PRS quality in every guitar

All of Paul Reed Smith guitars are designed for top-notch performance right out of the case, and the SE Standard 22 is no exception. Since 2001, Paul's SE Series has provided you excellent tone and playability at an incredibly affordable price point. With the launch of the Standard line, you'll have all of the tone you expect from a PRS at an even more accessible price point. Constructed from quality tonewoods and components, these PRS instruments carry on a commitment to quality that's been the brand's hallmark since 1985, when Paul Reed Smith himself started handbuilding guitars for some of the most elite players in the world.

Awesome Guitar

This guitar sounds amazing. And it looks just as good as it sounds. For the money this is a no brainer. I plan on upgrading the nut soon as it seems to be the only weak point of this instrument. Other than that I am very happy with my purchase. I am a PRS fan now. Thanks Sweetwater.

Incredible Guitar

This is really an incredible guitar. The strings seem to sing with every chord. The Mahogany body is so resonant that, unplugged, it rings like an acoustic, especially if you put 10s on.I've gotten compliments on this guitar from every friend that's played it. When I went to get it set up, my tech was so blown away he said why anyone would ever purchase a Gibson when they could get a PRS at this value.Want to give a shot-out to Joel, who's been incredibly helpful for a very long time. This customer service and quality of product will keep me a Sweetwater customer for life.

Home run @ $500!!!!!!!

I am simply amazed at the new Indonesia made guitars! I have owned a $2400 LP traditional that wouldn't hold a tune and I returned two PRS Starla guitars, one with a bad fret and the other arrived with the neck pickup sunk inside the guitar. I swore I would never buy another PRS again but when I saw this and watched the review by Rob Chapman on YouTube, I said what the heck, it's just $500 I'll try it out.Let me tell you, this IS a perfectly gigable axe. It is solid mahogany and is heavy like a non weight relief LP and it has very deep vintage sounds because of the wood. The pickups are a tad boomy on the bottom side but again this is a solid mahogany body with humbuckers. The action and frets are great and I can't think of any reason why I would spend more money for a guitar that can't sound any better than this.I'm also embarrassed that we can't build guitars like this in the USA at this price point. We can build and ship these across the world cheaper than shipping it across a state or two. However it is apparent that the Indonesians are taking huge pride in quality of construction...kudos to themBy the way I paired this guitar with the orange crush pro cr60 and it is a stupid good amp @ 400 and does sound A LOT like tubes and very much orange flavor

Jon

I have to start by saying I have a new best buddy with Sweetwater. The customer service is authentic and sincere. From the moment I decided to buy through the time I received my guitar Sweetwater was there. Working overseas had me a bit worried about shipping and receiving a damaged product. I worried for nothing. Forget the competitors and go with Sweetwater. You'll not be disappointed. When I opened the box there was this amazing looking guitar. Making minor tuning adjustments and I was rocking.

Outstanding for the price

PRS SE 224This is an outstanding guitar for the price. I wanted a Les Paul style guitar that I wouldn't be afraid to throw in the trunk of my car. I get nervous transporting my nicer Gibsons.I was looking at various alternate brand Les Paul style solidbodies manufactured off shore, Dan at Sweetwater suggested I look at the PRS line. I've always thought that PRS guitars are worth every penny of their sometimes expensive price tags, I was pleasantly surprised to discover that they have a whole line of inexpensive guitars manufactured in Indonesia (and so marked on the back of the head). The description I liked best was of the PRS SE 224, I googled and searched YouTube for neutral third party reviews and, and discovered many positive recommendations. Dan assured me that the PRS guitars made under license are already subject to high levels of quality control at the factory. In addition, Sweetwater has their own two year guarantee.I requested that the Sweetwater techs set up a low action, and I took Dan's suggestion of D'Addario NYXL 10s.It played beautifully right out of the shipping box. The double humbuckers sound great when overdriven and clean up nicely by rolling back the volume knobs. I don't have access to a U.S. made PRS to compare side by side, but the SE 224 that I purchased has sustain for days.Note; this has a "wraptail" bridge, similar to early 50's Les Pauls. This rules out precise string intonation, I'm OK with that. If you want to set intonation of the strings more exactly, there are other PRS models (just as reasonably priced) with saddles for each individual string that should do the job.
