7-string Mojo, PRS-style!

The PRS SE Custom 24 7-string Solidbody Electric Guitar serves up 7-string mojo - PRS-style. The PRS Custom 24 has been a standard-setter since its introduction. Now PRS has given it another string, letting you put up a wall of sound with huge, thunderous chords; launch runs that start really low; play bass lines; discover new chord voicings - the possibilities are endless. And because it's a PRS, the SE Custom 24 7-string looks amazing and oozes playability. Take it from Sweetwater: if you've got the 7-string bug, then you'll shred in style with the PRS SE Custom 24 7-string.

PRS SE Custom 24 7-string Solidbody Electric Guitar Features at a Glance:
  • This 7-string is exceptionally comfortable to play
  • PRS humbuckers serve up a smorgasbord of tasty tone
  • Custom 24 playability with fixed-bridge stability
This 7-string is exceptionally comfortable to play

All 7-string guitars are a breed apart. While some 7-strings are made with longer scale lengths, the PRS SE Custom 24 7-string sports a more-standard 25" scale that keeps everything right where you're used to. It also gives you the comfortable string tension you're accustomed to. Instead of taught, unyielding strings, you get smooth playability up and down the fretboard - perfect for lead work with lots of string bending.

PRS humbuckers serve up a smorgasbord of tasty tone

The PRS SE Custom 24 7-string is fitted with SE HFS and SE Vintage Bass humbuckers. HFS stands for hot, fat, and screams, which is an excellent description of what this pup does in your bridge position. A powerful pup with equal measures of attitude, authority, clarity, and sparkle, the HFS is ideal for your agressive lead work. The Vintage Bass neck pickup serves up a warm high-mid sound that's perfect across a range of genres. You control this heady sonic elixer through a volume and a push-pull tone pot, as well as a 3-way blade.

Custom 24 playability with fixed-bridge stability

While you may expect to see a vibrato tailpiece on the PRS SE Custom 24 7-string, it sports a fixed bridge - a dream come true if you prefer a hardtail axe. PRS's string-through-body, plate-style 7-string bridge has a low profile to give you the comfort you need with the exceptional tuning stability and reliability you can only get from a fixed bridge.

Many firsts

First 7-string First PRS SEFirst guitar ordered from SweetwaterFirst class service from sales engineer Katie StockmanFirst rate packing and shippingFirst impression..... AWESOME!!!!!Really happy I ordered this guitar. Plays great, sounds great, looks great! Very happy with Sweetwater. Will be ordering again from them in the near future. Thanks!

Great For The Money And Then Some

I played professionally for years but then left music for my day job. My instruments included a one-off 335 and a Gretsch George Van Eps 7-string. When I started playing again, I wanted another 7-string (I use low A) again. I ordered this through Sweetwater. I told Austin, my rep, how I wanted it set up and it came within half a turn of that. I also bought an S2 Singlecut but that's for another review. I think the SE 24 7-string is an awful lot of guitar for the money and more than fulfills my 7-string cravings. A solid buy!
Music background: Longtime pro getting back into playing

Cool axe

All its own. The scale is unique in the 7 market. Feels good to play. Frets were a tad sharp and needed some touchup. Fretboard needed some oil and now it's great. For the money it's pretty good. Good mid priced guitar for sure.

Not Impressed

I bought this 7 string to expand on my sound from usually playing a 6 string. This guitar is made in Korea and the quality is not bad. However, I have import guitars from Japan MIJ (the best import in my opinion), Indonesia and China, which are all better than this one. I also want to say that the black is NOT flame maple as stated on the PRS website (it is opaque and shows every little scratch). I am not happy with PRS customer service and their product (I have 2 of them), so this will be my last PRS. I have to give kudos to Sweetwater for offering to accept a return. Great as always! The scale length (25) is strange for a 7-string and I personally would not tune the low string down past B because of this. The pickups are decent, but nothing special. This seems like a 7 string version of the SE Custom 24 with a 7th string and plain top. It seems more like an SE standard than custom. I get fret buzz from the High B string, which hopefully I can correct. Overpriced in my opinion! There are better 7s out there.
