Mega-versatile Amp!

Here's a versatile amp that delivers full-on tube tone! The Blackstar Series One 200 can go from ultra-clean to crushingly crunchy, giving you a ton of hands-on control to dial in the perfect sound. In fact, when you toggle between the bright and warm modes on the clean channel, the Series One 200 actually reconfigures its preamp voicing and power amp damping, giving you bright and ringing Class A performance or that warm and crunchy Class AB sound.

You've also got crunch and super crunch modes to choose from on the Series One 200. In crunch mode, you can go from just on the edge of clean breakup to totally thick, modern rhythm tones. In super crunch mode, the stops are out for maximum all-out crunch. You'll also appreciate the attention Blackstar paid to keeping your top-end intact when you do launch into your overdrive sounds.

Looking for extreme tonal flexibility? Onboard the Series One 200, you've got four channels (six modes), so you can get a range of flavors. Blackstar also gave the Series One 200 two of their exclusive ISF controls (ISF stands for Infinite Shape Feature). Using it in conjunction with your bass, middle, and treble controls, you can nail the exact tonal signature you want.

If you're the plug-and-play sort of guitarist, then you'll be right at home in front of the Series One 200. But if you've got a mind for the high-tech, then you'll dig this mighty little combo, too. The Blackstar Series One 200 supports MIDI channel switching, allowing you to simultaneously select an amp channel and change the patch on a MIDI effects processor you have connected to the effects loop. Very nice. It supports 128 program changes, so you can access a wide range of tonal combinations.

Last but not least, the Blackstar Series One 200 has a convenient DPR (Dynamic Power Reduction) control. Grab the DPR and adjust the output power of the amp from 200 watts (200%) all the way down to 20 watts (10%) of the rated power. The control even adjusts the power amp compression, giving you a more playable feel when you're enjoying the comfortable listening levels of the reduced power settings.

Blackstar Series One 200 Features at a Glance:
  • 200-watt head with built-in DPR power reduction
  • 4 x ECC83, 1 x ECC82, and 4 x KT88 valves
  • 2 channels and 4 modes (footswitchable)
  • Clean channel with warm (Plexi) and bright (Class A) modes

The Blackstar Series One 200 is the sonically versatile and supremely playable amp you've been wanting!

drop tuning

I have had this amp for just under a year now.. I love it.. and just wanted to say this amp is great for drop tuning. Im in drop A with a 68 gage string. and it handles beautifully. the clarity is unreal. no flub here. and the emulated out put works quit well. only thing i don't like is the connection for the foot switch has extensions for locking it in place.. like and old monitor connection for a computer. female to male threaded little craps. these are easy to lose. otherwise i love this amp..

Definitely A Keeper

Easily the best amplifier I have ever owned or played out of, the 200W probably isn't necessary, but really if one amp goes to 10 and another goes to 11, I'm going to 11.

Rips

Yeah, this thing is amazing.Firstly, this thing has power and gain to spare! It's a perfect metal amp, but can easily be rolled back to be a more versatile rock / pop / blues amp if needs be. The crunch channel is especially tasty.A lot of features that this amp is sold on (ISF / amp voicings) have zero place in a live setting, but make it incredibly versative in the studio. However the power amp control, the midi in/out and many more features make this a perfect live amp as well.Tonally and from a control point, I would give this amp a 5/5 review, however, I just can't overlook how insanely heavy this thing is, and why oh why did they put the heaviest transistor known to man on one side? It's a slug to carry around and in my road case, this guy clocks in at 38kgs - That's 83 Pounds for our American friends - which makes it impossible to fly with and well, roadies hate me now!
