Rounds marks Native Instruments’ answer to a Reaktor-based sequencer and synthesizer, supplying a voltaic assortment of sonic sculpting tools to elevate any arrangement. Its dual-engine architecture comprises virtual analog and digital varieties, providing a spectrum of 2-oscillator harmonic-rich warmth and 3-oscillator FM timbre-shaping, impressing synthesists at Sweetwater with its focused yet flexible sound suite. Its veritable array of sequencing, arpeggiation, assignable macros, and detailed mapping make Rounds an equally powerful synth in the studio and on the stage. Its real magic, however, is found in its Voice Programming capabilities. Each synth engine is afforded eight blocks that can be subdivided into four cells for each block, with each cell able to host a distinct sound. That’s 32 slots per engine. Its pentacle of voicing modes lets you alter the distribution with room for an additional modifier, a slew of effects, and nuanced rhythmic controls, expanding its flexible melodic and multitrack sequencing. With more than 200 presets spanning keys, leads, basses, and sound spaces, alongside a bevy of MIDI and modulation options, Rounds is a surefire way to invigorate virtually any sonic showcase.
