Wow! These things impressed me

My first purchase of studio monitors was the Rokit RP8G2 and I've had those for 2-3 years now. Recently I decided to look into monitors which I could set up in order to A/B my mixes. I had already made my mind up in going to the Yamaha HS80 based on recommendations made by professionals. So I took a ride down to Sam Ash to demo the Yammies when the sales rep (who also had a pair of Rokit 8's) asked me if he can demo these new Samson resolvs, and wow did he blow me away. It was like removing a blanket off the Rokits every time he switched to these from the RP8's. In the comparison I demoed the yammies hs80, RP8s, and these, and definitely was so impressed by these. No exaggeration in any frequencies from what I could tell, everything was just so clean and tight. I ended up picking up a pair from Sweetwater due to their great pricing and customer service, and finally got to compare them at my home studio which is heavily treated (acoustics, bass traps), and wow they blow my Rokits away. Things are just so clear and in your face (acoustic guitars, strings in the background, bass). Everything just tightens up and clears up when switching to these. Also, I never realized how much bass coloration the rokits had until I got these. I was very indecisive due to the lack of reviews on this product and being that it's a Samson product and there seems to be better trusted products out there based on reviews but hearing these things really impressed me. So I'm getting rid of my rokits and keeping these. Also ,picked up a pair of HS80s in the process. Again, I'm writing this review from personal experience and to possibly help other people out there who are probably going through what I went through in deciding. My advice is, go listen to these things, you will be impressed.

Presence

When making my purchase it was between the SE6 and the Rokit6.The reason why I personally prefer these monitors:I believe these speakers have more "presence" than the Rokit's. The extended high frequency response and the front port bass cabinets give off a more "in your face" feeling, but surprisingly deep. Which to me is critical because I don't have much room for volume in my apartment. I feel like I can listen to these at a quiet volume and still mix with precision. Having purchased and used a set of Rokit's before I would say that the Rokit's have to be turned up a little more to hear everything clearly, because to me the Rokit's are a bit more "damp" sound. I think both monitors can produce equal results just depends on how they're used. I'm happy with my purchase.
