The ROXi preamp sets performers up for onstage success like no other pedal. The front panel offers gain control over both main and amp outs to ensure perfect level distribution as you take advantage of the acclaimed Grace preamp sound. The main gain control boasts an impressive range up to +55dB, so we recommend starting small and making adjustments if necessary! Need a dynamic boost? The ROXi’s left footswitch offers an adjustable boost up to +11dB, a perfect range for giving song choruses that explosive entrance or elevating solos in the mix. Need to tune? The right footswitch stops output cold while sending the signal to the pedal’s tuner output for a fast, professional workflow.
Musical EQ
The ROXi’s EQ offers a 3-band EQ section spanning bass, treble, and mids, each with a +/-10dB cut or boost. This musical EQ can do everything from slight enhancement to emergency surgical tone-shaping. The midrange band is sweepable with a front panel selector offering a 175Hz to 4kHz range capable of everything from scooped mids to extreme megaphone effects when pushed. What’s more, the bass and treble bands can be altered via internal jumpers. Vocalists, in particular, will want to take advantage of the ROXi’s highpass filter, which offers 75Hz and 150Hz floors with a -12dB roll-off per octave for very musical results that add presence. With such an EQ range, the ROXi can be an exceptional mic preamp one day and a punchy acoustic guitar preamp the next. Can you say future-proof?
Extras and I/O
The ROXi packs a staggering number output, function, and routing options for such a compact pedal. The rear panel offers XLR DI and 1/4-inch outputs for simultaneously sending signals to two destinations. For mics that require phantom power, the rear panel offers a +48V phantom power toggle. The 1/4-inch portion of the pedal’s combo input jack section offers two gain structures, high and low, with high-gain mode capped at +55dB. Six dipswitches on the pedal’s side handle switching between mic and line output levels, but also advanced EQ features, including highpass filter bypass or floor adjustment. As a bonus, the side panel also offers a built-in 9V power supply. This 2.1mm pedal-sized terminal outputs up to 500mA of current and works well for powering pedals, such as those slotted into the FX loop.
No sound person? No problem!
Whether dealing with a lack of personnel, equipment, or a lackluster sound system, the ROXi puts assurance and remedies at your feet. Is today’s PA giving buzz and hum? Flip the GND/ISO toggle to disconnect the ground and clarify the ROXi. Need to add flavorful reverb or even an entire effects chain? Slot your favorite effects right into the ROXi’s FX loop and dial-in your perfect mix using ROXi’s FX blend knob. The FX loop falls before the pedal’s boost section, giving any wet signal rich, pure sound when active. The FX loop can be mapped to the left footswitch to replace the boost function, and you can choose between selectable tails/no tails when switching the loop on or off. Finally, the ROXi lets users monitor their levels using a dynamic indicator light. The indicator turns solid green at optimal levels but will flash red when your signal comes within 13dB of clipping. The occasional red flash is normal as your sound source peaks, but persistent red lets performers know when it’s time to roll back the gain. Tools like these give performers a level of quality assurance regardless of circumstances (or soundboards) beyond your control.
