A modern bass with roots in the past

Paying homage to short scale basses of the past, the Fender Classic Player Rascal Bass incorporates the Fender Coronado's headstock, a Guild Starfire Bridge, lipstick pickups, and a Fender Bass VI body. Designed by Fender Custom Shop luthier Jason Smith, the Rascal Bass is a unique and versatile instrument that is sure to become a favorite among musicians. The easy-to-play short scale neck lends itself to pick play or fingerpicking. And a trio of lipstick pickups give you a diverse palette of tone that's perfect for dialing up classic tones or creating new sounds.

Seymour Duncan pickups give this axe a unique sound

Fender loaded the Classic Player Rascal Bass with a trio of Seymour Duncan lipstick pickups. These pickups give you the very essence of early short scale basses. They evoke everything from sparkle and shine to deep reggae bass tones to fat, low-end growl. And a 5-way switch with a push/pull volume knob let you choose from seven pickup combinations. Take it from the Sweetwater crew - the Fender Classic Player Rascal Bass has the tones you need for any gig.

Short-scale neck impacts your sound, not just feel

Of course the short scale length of the Classic Player Rascal Bass makes it easier to navigate the fretboard, and is perfect for beginners and players with smaller hands. But did you know that the scale length of a guitar or bass has a direct impact on its tone? The harmonics your bass guitar generates are spaced along the strings based on the length of the strings - shorter strings mean the harmonics are packed in tighter, giving any note you play more harmonic richness than a longer scale would. Just plug the Classic Player Rascal Bass into your bass amp and you'll see what we mean, as notes come alive and cut through the mix without becoming overbearing.

Fender Classic Player Rascal 4-string Solidbody Electric Bass Guitar Features:
  • Custom Shop designed short-scale bass with a wide range of tones
  • Seymour Duncan Lipstick pickups deliver a unique, full-range tone
  • 5-way switch and push/pull volume knob give you seven pickup choices
  • Guild Starfire bridge with barrel saddles provides excellent intonation
  • Shorter scale length plays fast and intensifies harmonics in your tone
  • Deluxe gig bag included
The Fender Classic Player Rascal short-scale bass delivers killer playability and cool tones!
