Enhanced Mastering-grade Monitoring for Your Studio

Over two years of intensive research and development went into the Heritage Audio Reference Audio Monitoring systems, and it shows. Sharing the same state-of-the-art circuitry and core analog audio path, the three RAM systems deliver audiophile-quality sound and feature sets tailored for project studios, commercial recording facilities, and post-production houses who deliver in 5.1 surround. The middle entry in the series is the RAM System 2000, designed for the studio that needs enhanced, mastering-grade stereo monitoring capabilities.

Feature-packed console-style stereo monitor controller

The System 2000 features generous I/O, with three pairs of +4dBu balanced analog inputs and three stereo outputs, an independent pre-fader Mix Out, independent stereo Cue I/O, a S/PDIF coax input, and pro-audio-quality Bluetooth input for easy mobile device integration. The 2000's two audiophile-grade diamond-buffer-based headphone amplifiers are capable of driving any headphones without noise or coloration. For easy recall of common settings, two user-assignable preset levels are provided. For communicating with talent, there's a built-in talkback with console-style management. Lastly, Heritage Audio equipped the RAM System 2000 with an independent subwoofer output that lets you effortlessly share your sub between different speaker pairs.

Audiophile-quality monitoring for any size studio

All three RAM systems employ state-of-the-art analog circuitry for superior transparency and ultra-low noise and distortion. The units are fitted with 64-step, gold-plated relay ladder attenuation for master level control — a feature usually found only on high-end large-format consoles. They also support Bluetooth connectivity for convenient wireless input from mobile devices. And with its classic RAF-gray cosmetics and prominent red Marconi knob, your RAM system will add a touch of class to your control room. At Sweetwater, we're very excited about Heritage Audio's RAM systems. Whether you record at home or work in a world-class studio, mastering-grade monitoring has never been more accessible.

Amazing Control Center
This addition to my recording studio has proven to be one of the best investments I made. Has allowed me to improve my mixing standard taking my productions to the next level he has been reliable and exactly what I expected a heritage brand equipment to be pure excellence.
Music background: 3 time Grammy Winner Independent Music Producer
Honestly the best upgrade you can ask for
Well worth the purchase I would buy again
Awesome
Flat sound accurate good for mixing mastering recording
Nice piece of equipment
This is my first monitor controller so take this as you may. I am not sure, but I think it took some time to warm up. Once it did, my audio sounded incredible. Solid build (heavy) and it looks amazing on my workstation. Although, the metal build helps dissipate heat (Thermal Conductivity) the Ram 2000 does become warm to the touch once in use but I am assuming that is normal. It comes with a 2 year warranty but buyer is required to pay return shipping fee. Delvin at Sweetwater recommended this unit and I am glad he did. I needed help getting audio to come through and the Sweetwater team patiently helped me.

In conclusion, great quality product if it is your first time or a possible great up grade if not.

Thank you
A Real Tool
I made the mistake of actually asking my Sales Engineer, Carson McClain, for recommendations for a monitor controller, after he got me totally addicted to hardware and software synths. I've been working with Carson for years so he knows my tastes. I mentioned that I had been lusting after a PreSonus Central Station for years but had never pulled the trigger on one. Started looking at the present crop of Mackie Big Knobs. Well he came back with recommending this Heritage unit, a Drawmer CMC3, or a Dangerous Music unit. There was a demo unit of the RAM System 2000 and that's what I went with.

After having spent years using an old desktop mixer with a scratchy output pot that I always thought might not track well for channel balance as it was turned up and down, this Heritage Audio unit is a joy to use. Was a bit surprised that the Master level control is in fact a pot, or feels like one. It's not a 64 position stepped switch. But as you run it up and down you can hear the relays on the ladder attenuator clicking away being controlled by the internal microprocessor. Very smooth control and since the attenuator is made up of fixed, close tolerance resistors, it should track better than just about any stacked stereo pot ever could, and the relays should last way longer than the wiper on a pot. Add to that the Burr Brown opamps and DAC chips, and you have it made. Impressed that this thing comes with a real +/- 17.5 Vdc power supply, so you know the opamps are working at their best because of the high rail voltages.

Biggest surprise was how great the Bluetooth receiver and codecs work. My main monitors are a 1981 vintage pair of Yamaha NS10Ms going through a Crown XTi1002 amp. Just listening to SiriusXM streaming audio on the Classic Vinyl channel this setup was gorgeous sounding. The NS10Ms are being augmented by an M-Audio BX10s sub. That helps too.

Headphone amps drive my high impedance Beyerdynamic DT770 Pro headphones with no problem.

When the unit first powers on, it comes up in mute mode. This is nice since you'll never have a surprise blast of sound from your monitors until you've done something deliberate to let it through. . Since this is microprocessor controlled, they could program soft functions with a shift key on several buttons which works very well. The small LCD display displays the in and out channel selected and the level of attenuation, even accounting for the DIM attenuation if that's being used.

The only minor disappointment is the Talkback mic. It sounds like what it is, a small electret condenser element behind a punched grille inside a metal box. There is no provision for an external mic. But so long as the needed communications between engineer and talent can be understood, all should be fine.

If you're ready to step up the quality of the audio in your studio and not have to worry about whether your channel balance is wandering back and forth as you run level up and down, buy this box or something similar. It really will make you smile.
