Electronic Bass Drum in a Stomper

Turn your foot tapping into the sound of an electronic bass drum with the Logjam Prolog stomper. Logjam fine-tuned the shape and size of the Prolog's internal chamber to produce a big, bassy kick sound through its piezo pickup element. Just connect a 1/4" cable to an amplifier or PA system, and you're ready to accompany your playing with a powerful rhythmic accent. Musicians at Sweetwater like it for adding rhythmic interest to solo acoustic performances. The extended heel board even lets you play backbeats with your heel. Whether you're a singer/songwriter, solo keyboardist, or a percussionist, the Logjam Prolog is a great way to add some rhythm to your performance.

Reviews

Excellent Acoustic Sound
I bought this to get a nice thump when I play solo shows, and it does the job. The only thing that I'm going to have to get used to is that it picks up noise from around the pedal because it is not electric, you can't turn it off unless you turn off the speaker system or unplug it. I can live with that and will learn to manage the extra sounds - I can always turn my speaker volume down when I'm not playing.

I tried another stomp pedal that was digital, but found that I missed the Logjam wooden platform and the fact that it stays where you put it. I also didn't realize that the digital bass drum sound was not what I was looking for - and the Logjam's more "acoustic" sound is more organic, which fits well with my acoustic guitar and harmonica performances.

Some reviews I read claimed that the pedal sounds like a wood block unless you eq it. I found that it does sound kind of woody, but I like that. My speaker seems to give it a nice deep earthy wooden tone.

So the Logjam won out over the digital pedal, which, by the way, was a pretty good sound if that's what you're looking for. But for earthy-woody thumps, the Logjam is the way to go.
It works just fine!
I use this pedal all the time with my band. No, it doesn't sound exactly like a kick drum, but I EQ it on the board to cut the highs and boost the lows, and in context of the band, it does the job and I get a lot of comments about how great it sounds.

Sometimes, I use an additional EG pedal, but it's been working fine with the EQ on the board.

I did make a "cushion" for it to sit on, as I didn't like the sound it made on the hard floors we sometimes play on.

There may be better ones out there, but it works fine for me!
Music background: Been playing all my life.
Nice addition to our acoustic act!
Simple to use, no batteries needed. We use it to emulate a kick drum in our acoustic duo. As the instructions tell you, in order to get a bass sound you should use a PA channel or effect with compression and EQ to roll out the highs and pump up the lows. I bought a cheap bass preamp to put in the signal chain and it does a FANTASTIC job. Without an EQ it sounds like a wood block.
Music background: semi-pro acoustic artist
Dackel
Easy to use. Worked well during a recent live performance. A great way to add percussion to your songs. I also like that is is made with sustainable materials.
Music background: part-time singer / songwriter
not the best choice
I hate to be negative about a person's product, but I could have used this review before I purchased a non-returnable demo.

To get a deep sound from it, you'll have to put an equalizer in the circuit and cut all the highs out, and then probably a noise suppressor to eliminate the hiss from the equalizer. This pedal is just far too sensitive to the high end "tap" your foot makes upon impact. The best choice for me has been the Porch Board Bass (micro version)....no equalizer nor subwoofer needed, but you'd better have at least a 10" speaker to handle the deep thud it produces.
