An Updated Classic with Killer Low-end Extension

A modern update of a well-loved classic, the Peavey PVH 1516 bass cabinet soaks your tone in vintage character. A heavy duty high excursion 15" woofer delivers truckloads of low-end extension. At Sweetwater, we've been especially impressed with what the PVH 1516's two 8" mid/high speakers add to our tone's top end. And when you push the SPLs to the point of break up - that's pure magic. A wide dispersion pattern provides coverage over a large area in front of and to the sides of the cab. A 3-position EQ switch yields diverse tones. Featuring road-ready 15mm plywood with rugged metal corners, a durable metal grille, and spring-loaded handles, the Peavey PVH 1516 is a killer bass cabinet.

Awesome cab!

I'm an older guy who grew up with and still prefers the sound of the old 2x15 cabs I grew up with in the 70s and 80s. I've also been a pretty consistent user of Peavey products. I'm not willing to follow the trend of musicians of my generation who "downsize" to micro heads, mini cabinets, and neo speakers for the sake of their backs. That being said...I absolutely love my new PVH1516! I've paired it with an old Peavey Alphabass tube amp and could not be happier with this rig. Tight, fundamental tone is what this cab is all about. I've got cabs with a tweeter but usually just turn it off. The 8 inch speakers in this box do exactly what they should...tighten and define the notes without too many trebly overtones. I don't notice a lot of difference with the 3-position attenuator, but number 2 sounds fine to me. Solid construction. Not a beast to move and it has sockets which will accommodate Ernie Ball casters to make the job easier. I've played it a couple times out with a 60s cover band. I never minded Peavey's classic aluminum stripes, but this one is discrete enough to sit in a backline with old Vox amps and not stand out too much. If you need to slap and pop...look elsewhere. But if you want articulate, fundamental bass tone for classic rock or country, this is a great cabinet. And a word about buying from Sweetwater...you will not find a better online shopping experience. Anywhere. Period.
