Celebrating 75 Years of an Unrivaled Icon
For the 75th anniversary of one of music's most popular low-end purveyors, Fender is celebrating with a gift to you: the 75th Anniversary American Professional PJ Bass. Showcasing this icon’s journey in full display, this limited-edition bass is packed with the best features from Fender's American Professional series, along with a curated selection of enhancements and upgrades to both its design and tone. You’ll find the comfortably familiar ’63 C-profile neck with rolled fingerboard edges, along with a sculpted neck heel for effortless upper register access. Additionally, a 4-saddle HiMass Vintage bridge and genuine bone nut offer added sustain and enhanced playing stability. For the diamond anniversary, Fender is pulling out all the stops, upgrading the standard American Professional design with a flame maple top in a stunning 2-Color Sunburst and outfitting this PJ Bass with all-gold hardware. The 75th-anniversary enhancements also extend to the electronics. Combining the best in sound of Fender’s two most popular basses, this PJ Bass features two custom 75th-anniversary V-Mod II pickups: a split-coil Precision Bass pickup for that traditional P Bass punch and a single-coil Jazz Bass pickup for added brightness, growl, and articulation. A commemoration of this musical icon's continued legacy, the 75th Anniversary American Professional PJ Bass brings decades of sonic and visual refinement, along with a touch of celebration, into the modern era.

An upscale take on a classic design
In 1951, Leo Fender set out to give bass players the same portability and amplification that guitarists already enjoyed. Conceived of as an alternative to the upright bass, Leo designed the first Precision Bass and, in doing so, made history. The 75th Anniversary American Professional PJ Bass is a celebration of that achievement and the instrument's legacy, featuring a selection of curated upgrades to the look and sound of the timeless design. To start, Fender capped the traditional alder body with a flame maple top finished in a classic 2-Color Sunburst. Next, Fender outfitted this instrument in Gold accents, from the tuning pegs and string tree to the bridge, ensuring this limited-edition bass is as stunning on the wall as it is on the stage.

Player-friendly enhancements
Fender drew on a storied history of innovation to ensure this 75th Anniversary American Professional PJ Bass has the substance to match its superior looks. The ’63 C-profile neck is comfortable and smooth, with rolled fingerboard edges, a “Super-Natural” satin finish, and a newly sculpted neck heel for natural playability and easy access to the upper register. A 4-saddle HiMass vintage-style bridge works in concert with its bone nut to transfer more of the string's energy to the body of the instrument, enhancing its sustain and articulation. Additionally, the tapered-shaft tuner design optimizes break angle and tension on your string posts.
Precision punch, jazzy articulation
In the 1970s, Fender created the PJ Bass, an alternative for bassists who'd grown tired of having to choose between the punchiness of the Precision and the growl of the Jazz. This moment of combined legacy is what Fender chose to highlight for the 75th Anniversary American Professional PJ, which is outfitted with a custom P/J V-Mod II pickup combination. Many Sweetwater bassists prefer the V-Mod II design, which uses mixed magnets to enhance performance and balance. In its traditional position, the 75th Anniversary V-Mod II Split-Coil Precision Bass pickup delivers the powerful punch that the P Bass is known the world over for, while at the bridge, the 75th Anniversary V-Mod II Single-Coil Jazz Bass pickup provides extra articulation and bite to your tone.
