Your Perfect Practice Partner — and More

Part practice amp and part Bluetooth speaker, Positive Grid’s Spark 2 improves upon its predecessor with twice the processing power, 25% more output, all-new HD amp models, AI-powered tone, a built-in looper, and more. Realistic cab sim IRs, state-of-the-art effects, and premium angled FRFR speakers reinforce the myriad sonic textures produced by Spark 2’s powerful DSP amp-modeling engine. Spark 2’s groove-laden looper, which includes hyper-realistic drum tracks, will unleash countless fun-filled solo jam sessions. Bluetooth connectivity makes playing along with your favorite tracks effortless, while integrated Wi-Fi enables trouble-free over-the-air firmware updates without a computer. You’ll also appreciate Spark 2’s intuitive top-panel controls, low-latency performance, beefed-up headphone output, stereo line outputs, convenient wireless control, and eight customizable presets. An upgraded Tolex-covered cabinet, dark-weave grille, and double-thick strap round out Spark 2. Players searching for the ultimate practice partner will find endless inspiration in the Spark 2.

All-new HD amp-modeling engine

Driven by Sonic IQ Computational Audio, Spark 2’s all-new HD amp-modeling engine delivers a well-stocked arsenal of outstanding tones. You’ll benefit from twice the processing power of the original Spark, providing you with cutting-edge tube emulations, tailored filter designs, and true-to-life cab sim IRs. Integrated multiband dynamic range compression, virtual bass augmentation, and enhanced stereo imaging bolster your sound further. Furthermore, Spark AI allows you to craft and audition unique tones by answering a series of questions. Finally, Spark 2’s two angled 4-inch FRFR speakers and reflex ports equip you with a generous frequency response, immersive stereo imaging, and room-quaking bass.

Your home for tons of tones

Thanks to all this processing power, Positive Grid’s Spark 2 contains a massive cache of ear-grabbing sounds — 33 amplifiers and 43 effects, to be exact. And it sounds better than ever; all the amps included in the Spark app have been remastered to take advantage of the new HD amp-modeling engine. Plug into this stellar practice amplifier, and you’ll experience a greater EQ range, more expansive dynamics, exceptionally true-to-life gain staging, and more.

Advanced smart groove looper

One of the most frequently requested Spark features here at Sweetwater has been a built-in hardware looper. Spark 2 not only contains an advanced smart groove looper, but it’s also jam-packed with hundreds of authentic-sounding drum tracks. It’s incredibly intuitive; you select a genre, choose a groove, and you’re good to go. Whether you want to craft a solo jam, build a layered performance, or explore exciting new musical possibilities, Spark 2’s looper is ready and willing to oblige. Want hands-free looper control? Who doesn’t? All you need to do is pair Spark 2 with a Spark Control X footswitch, and start, stop, layer, and undo commands will be placed firmly at your feet.

Generous connectivity abounds

Positive Grid’s Spark 2 is brimming with convenient connectivity. Bluetooth 5.0 empowers you to stream audio, jam along to your favorite track, and more from any Bluetooth-equipped device. A headphone output jack makes private practice sessions a snap; meanwhile, stereo 1/4-inch line outputs enable you to send your sound anywhere. You also get a USB-C port, which enables you to use Spark 2 as a 1-in/2-out audio interface. To top it off, Spark 2 is Wi-Fi enabled, so you can receive over-the-air firmware updates without a computer and connect to a Spark Control X footswitch without an external software application.

What is Certified Open Box Gear?

At Sweetwater, we're so picky that what we call "Certified Open Box" is actually better than what most music retailers sell as "new" gear! Our gear hasn't endured hundreds of people a week plunking away at all the keyboards, fumbling through Stairway to Heaven on every guitar or playing with every fader and knob on a mixer or control surface.

Certified Open Box (also known as a demo) means we’ve had it out of the box for our YouTube channel, displayed at events, tested in our studio, or maybe it was in a customer’s hands for a few days and isn’t ‘factory fresh’ as a result. Every Certified Open Box item we sell has Sweetwater’s 2-year Total Confidence Coverage™ warranty and has been tested and verified up to ‘new’ specs by our factory-authorized technicians to make sure it’s in perfect working order before we ship it to you.

When you buy a Certified Open Box item at Sweetwater, you get:
  • 2-year Total Confidence Coverage Warranty™!
  • Products inspected and tested by our factory-authorized techs, guaranteed to function like new (or better)!
  • FREE shipping on most items

Major Improvement over Spark 1
I've had the Spark 2 for a couple weeks now and I am blown away at the improvement over the original, which I also have. The jump from 40W to 50W obviously provides a nice boost in power and volume, but for me that's not the big change. The most positive improvement is in the sound quality itself. The Spark 1 was notoriously bass-y, and it was exhausting having to constantly EQ the bass out of every setting and still having a slightly muddy sound. The Spark 2 is crisp right out of the box and now fine tuning the EQ and settings on amps and pedals in the app feels so much more responsive and granular. If you have a Spark Control X pedal, it's also a huge quality of life improvement to be able to connect the pedal via bluetooth directly to the amp and not have to use the app to do it every time. The built in loop is pretty solid as well. Overall, I think anyone in the mood from an upgrade from the original will be happy, and anyone looking for a well-priced high-quality practice amp will be extremely happy.

The best overall amp I have ever had!
This little amp is amazing. I love the app that works on your phone. I'm a long time Katana user and I hate having to get out my laptop for tone studio. The Spark app blows it out of the water! The sound you get out of this little amp is unreal. It sounds like an amp 10 times it's size. I couldn't be happier. Don't listen to the negative reviews. They shouldn't have bought an amp that solely runs off an app if they didn't have the means to use it. I also like the custom grill options you have. It adds a that personal touch.

Great Product!
This amp is amazing. You can YouTube the reviews/demos for a better description than I can render, but let me say it's more than a practice amp. At 50W and with line-out, it's absolutely gig-worthy.
Practicing more with this amp
I really enjoy this amp for bass and guitar. I like the tone once I found and tuned the right amp models and being able to set presents and adjust the virtual amps with physical knobs with out the app!

The sound is surprisingly good and it even doubles as a good Bluetooth speaker.

A few minor nuts. I'd prefer a simple power cable, more presets (and that the blue and red match when you switch and 1/4 rather than 1/8 for headphones.

With the line out into a small class D bass amp and 1x10 this could be gig worthy too. Overall I practice more often and recommend this amp!

very satisfied
For the record, I'm old school. I have tube amps and pedals. That's the way I've done things all my life. Like most everybody else. I have a lot of different bands that I like to play. I was really getting tired of always having to redial in my pedals when I go from one particular band or style to another. So I bought this spark 2. I am so happy to not have to redial in pedals. To be able to do that so quick on this spark amp is worth the money alone to me. You can get tones off the tone cloud. you have the ability to adjust these things very easily. To go from a brown sound to an early 70 overdrive crunch in less than 30 seconds is awesome. I know that there's a lot of things that you can do with this little amp that I haven't learned how to do yet.but I'll enjoy the ride learning.
