Room-filling Dreadnought Projection

Boasting a thunderous dreadnought design and an old-school open-pored finish, the Ibanez PF54 is a truly do-it-all acoustic guitar. This big-bodied dreadnought guitar’s solid meranti top and meranti back, sides, and neck supply a supremely warm and rich sonic voice, further bolstered by a robust bottom-end bass boom. Solo players and singers looking to fill out the mix will be sure to appreciate the PF54’s classic dreadnought body — arguably the most popular acoustic guitar size for its full-bodied tone and room-filling unplugged projection. Powerful, versatile, and brimming with bass-heavy thump, the Ibanez PF54 is a superb choice for the musician seeking a Swiss Army knife of an acoustic guitar.

Mellow and mahogany-like meranti body

Tonally similar to traditional mahogany, the meranti that forms this guitar’s top, back, sides, and neck delivers an eminently warm, rich, and balanced sonic voice. Moreover, this guitar’s premium solid meranti top significantly bolsters its natural resonance and response, while the rustic open-pored finish allows the entire instrument to vibrate unimpeded. For the aspiring strummer or singer/songwriter seeking a more moody alternative to the legions of spruce-topped 6-strings available, Ibanez’s meranti-topped acoustic guitars are tough to beat.

Deep-bodied dreadnought design

For most guitarists, big-bodied dreadnought-size guitars such as the PF54 might as well be synonymous with the idea of an “acoustic guitar.” What makes the dreadnought so popular? While it’s quite a bit larger than most other acoustic guitar sizes, the mighty dreadnought delivers an immense bass response and a deep projection unmatched by smaller-bodied instruments. Sweetwater’s acoustic fanatics frequently recommend dreadnought acoustics to strummers and solo singer-songwriters, as their rich, full response goes a long way when you’re looking to fill out a mix.

Ibanez PF54 Acoustic Guitar Features:

  • Big-bodied dreadnought design provides a deep and booming unplugged tone
  • Solid meranti top and meranti back and sides deliver a warm and dusky tone that’s ideal for fingerpickers or for providing singer/songwriter accompaniment
  • Meranti neck topped with a smooth nandu wood fingerboard in a 10-inch radius
  • Rustic open-pore finish allows the guitar to resonate and vibrate unimpeded

Reviews

Super Guitar
I've had this Ibanez for about six months now. I play it every day, it's a joy. It seems very well built for such an inexpensive instrument; really I can't find fault. The sound is resonant, it stays in tune, nothing has gone amiss. I did have to do a little bit of a set up, adjusting the truss rod, sanding down the bridge a bit, but that was no surprise. It's nice that it comes with an extra bridge.
I bought this guitar to keep at work, something I could play around with when I could. But I like it so much I bring it home at least every weekend, sometime more.
For the price you can't go wrong.
