I use this as a Piano stool.
I do not have room for a "piano" bench in my studio space and normal chairs, are not the correct height for me. I like to have my elbows just above level with the tops of the keys when I'm in playing position. I am 5'6". This stool adjusted perfectly for me and there are two notches higher than I need and two lower than what I need. I also use this for playing guitar when seated. Works perfectly for that. the seat is firm and cushiony. There is a collar that fits into the tube (see picture) that keeps the seat quite stable. The "wing nuts" to tighten the bolts are solid and are large enough they don't hurt the fingers when you tighten them.
