Dark, Complex Crash with Stunning Surface

Hammering a cymbal changes its vibration characteristics, thus adding tonal complexity and eventually lending a “trashiness” to heavily hammered cymbals. The Meinl Pure Alloy extra-hammered crash cymbal certainly isn’t trashy in the same way that a china cymbal is, but Sweetwater drummers feel there’s a slight edge to its sound. This extra-hammered crash cymbal also has a dark, rich wash, full-bodied bell, and a medium sustain. All in all, the Pure Alloy extra-hammered crash cymbal is a beautifully complex-sounding cymbal that blends well with jazz, progressive rock, and other harmonically rich genres.

Traditional, fully lathed surface

Fully lathed surfaces are a big departure from the raw, earthy cymbals Meinl is best known for today. This process gives all Meinl Pure Alloy cymbals a higher wash-to-stick ratio — more like traditional cymbals — for a sweet, lingering sustain.

Crafted by drummers for drummers

Meinl's cymbal innovation stems from both a deep love for the craft and a desire to provide drummers with the sounds they're buzzing about. Whether you're into the traditional Pure Alloy series or the modern-dry Byzance line, Sweetwater is confident that Meinl Cymbals has the sound you're after.

Meinl Cymbals Pure Alloy Extra-hammered Crash Features:

  • Part of Meinl’s Pure Alloy series of traditional-style cymbals
  • Fully lathed top and bottom provide an eye-catching sheen for the stage
  • Extra-hammered surfaces lend ear-catching sounds to the studio
  • Dark, harmonically complex wash and medium sustain
  • Full-bodied bell with warm and rounded tone
  • Excellent stick definition

Reviews

Epic, Warm, just bright enough!!
In contrast with my Meinl hit hats, it brings a fullness with a warm sustaining tone that doesn't drown and cuts quickly, I'm used to A-custom usually 20 inch, I'm digging this sound for sure, and I usually like bright faster-crashes. Meinl For Eternity!

Great cymbal
I enjoy the warmer tone, has a nice ping and crashes right through when I need it.
