Reviews

Versatile and Affordable!
I purchased this microphone during the pandemic when I needed something for videoconferencing and recording. It does both great, and with multiple pickup patterns, it is versatile.

Super for giving music lessons and doing livestreams!
The quality *and* the price are both right. I can select between 3 different pickup patterns. I get a lot of compliments for my superb tone–I am asked what microphone I am using. I let them know AKG 4-420. Love that it coms with shock mount and a hard case.

Been my favorite mic for over 5 years now.
I love this microphone, and so has every single artist I have used it with. Heck I wrote a ballad to it. While starting up a live sound/studio recording side business years back I sent my partner looking for a large condenser that was reasonably priced for jam sessions of a two piece acoustic/conga band who just wanted the simple single mic setup with warm room reverb and a pure, natural feel.
I thought for years that he had ignored my budget requirements with this mic, assuming at least 300 dollars was spent, if not more. I was shocked at the price when I saw it as I browsed mics today, and had to drop a review.
This is the best microphone for the price I have ever used or heard used in fifteen years of making music and recording personally and professionally. I cannot believe the price. The warmth and depth of sound rivals large condensers I've used that are five times more expensive. The housing is solid and heavy, but as I have always used it with care and never dropped it or slammed it into anything I'm not able to judge its durability. Settings are easily adjusted with clearly labeled switches, and I have used it for interviews, vocals, live show recording, quiet ambience, loud amps/horns/drums and countless other things.
If you want a high quality large condenser buy three of these instead of any single mic of equal value. Seriously.
Does What It Needs To
Good enough mic if you're trying to do some in-house recording. I've gotten some great recordings with my synth, guitar, and OP-1 out of my DeVille.
