Way back at the beginning of the boutique pedal revolution, a certain Comic Sans-emblazoned, hard-clipping op-amp overdrive quickly rose to the top of the dirt box ranks, all but forcing guitarists to compulsively obsess over its remarkably amp-like tone. Warm Audio’s ODD Box (Obsessive Drive Disorder) hard-clipping overdrive pedal is an astoundingly accurate emulation of that very stompbox, right down to the side-mounted thumbscrews. Stomping on the ODD Box instantly unlocks the original pedal’s exceptionally touch-sensitive overdrive attack, taking you from a slight clean boost to roaring tube-style saturation with the twist of a Drive knob. What’s more, the ODD Box’s UK/US switch provides you with two distinctly voiced dirt tones to play with. It’s a loving tribute to tone that authentically mirrors just about every facet of the original, right down to the premium-grade through-hole components, perfectly capturing the transparent overdrive magic of the pedal that arguably defined the early boutique era.

Two transatlantic tonal personalities

The ODD Box comes loaded with two distinct tonal personalities, allowing you to drastically switch up your sound with the flick of a switch.

UK setting: This setting gives you increased distortion at earlier levels for a slightly more aggressive response, in addition to boosting overall volume. Moreover, it also cranks up your signal’s upper midrange for a brilliant, chimey tone.
US setting: If you’re after a slightly more dynamic sound with increased headroom, you’ll be sure to love the ODD Box’s US setting — Sweetwater guitarists find that the lower levels of this setting function particularly well as a boost to push the front end of your amp. However, turn up the gain to unlock a wealth of rough, raw, and dirty tones that excel at riding the thin line between all-out overdrive and edge-of-breakup bark.

Top-of-the-line through-hole components

From top to bottom, the ODD Box is constructed with premium-level components to provide a sound that remains true to the tone of its overdrive inspiration. This pedal boasts through-hole construction that utilizes a TL082CP op-amp, hand-selected capacitors and resistors, and 2N7000 transistors. What does that mean for you? Well, an overdrive pedal is only as good as the sum of its parts. Warm Audio has undoubtedly taken the time to acquire the proper components to make the ODD Box a startlingly accurate replication of an all-time classic hard-clipping overdrive pedal.
