Fatten Up Your Tone with this Octave Pedal

If you’re chasing down a vintage-style octave effect, the TC Electronic Nether Octaver should be at the top of your list. It offers both one and two octaves below the original signal, an all-analog design, and super-simple controls. Depending on how you dial in the independent octave level controls, you can conjure anything from a thick and rich guitar lead to full-on bottom-end brutality. There’s also a dry knob that controls how much of the input signal remains in the output. Set it low for subtlety or set it high for synth-inspired tones. When we tested it here at Sweetwater, the TC Electronic Nether Octaver overflowed with tones straight out of the '80s — even some reminiscent of masterpieces like Purple Rain.

TC Electronic Nether Octaver Features:

  • Vintage-style sub-octave effects pedal
  • Provides 1 and 2 octaves down below dry tone
  • Individual octave level controls provide easy tone shaping
  • Rugged chassis lasts through punishing shows
  • Top-mounted jacks save pedalboard space
  • True bypass circuitry leaves your signal untouched when disengaged

Reviews

TC Electronic Nether Octave Pedal
Wow!! Just taking it out of the box and feeling how heavy and well-built was enough but when I played through it, it sounds amazing! And you can't beat the price. Thank you to Ashton at Sweetwater. Best sales rep ever. Sweetwater is my go-to place for many years now.
Cool!
Exactly as described- very cool effect, best for single note lines but does provide a really nice brooding bottom for chord progressions
Very good mod. (I do not like mods)
I didn't like it at first. I don't think it sounds like an Octaver. More like a DEEP Chorus on Steroids. It isn't as punchy as I expected. It's a bit more than subtle. You may not think it's even on. It adds a very thick sound deep inside of tonal pallet. It's very well built. I really, really like it.

I read that the best chorus, is the LEAST chorus. That is what this pedal seems to do. It's obvious, but not so obvious.

Boss OC-2 on a budget
This octaver is sweet on bass. It gives glitchy, synthy goodness when you add a little fuzz or dirt after it. It is inspiring and super fun. Get it.
Great pedal for my purpose!
Hey now! I bought this pedal for the sole purpose of using it on one song that my band plays, which is ZZ Top's I'm Bad I'm Nationwide, you know the end solo. Yeah, I know, he used an old Maestro Octave or something and it had up and down octave, but I'm just going simple and using this for one octave down and it sounds freakin' really good. It's cheap as heck and serves my purpose perfectly. If you need a great and cheap octave down pedal for strictly leads, then I highly recommend this. Is it tracking perfectly, of course not, but it's good enough for RnR and a huge plus for me is that it's analog, which I prefer when possible in a pedal.
