Pro-level Bass Cab with Monstrous Tone

The Gallien-Krueger NEO IV 212 builds off of its top-selling predecessor, offering quality-conscious bassists eye-grabbing new aesthetics, upgraded construction, and a solid cache of player-requested features. This 800-watt, closed-back bass cabinet houses two custom 12-inch neodymium speakers that are supplemented by a 1-inch horn-style tweeter — a tasteful, powerful combination that delivers undeniable projection, presence, and definition. This sturdy bass cabinet boasts rugged plywood construction, heavy-duty bracing, and an ultra-tough metal grille. A superb match for your Legacy or Fusion bass amp head, the NEO IV 212 delivers the sound, roadworthiness, and performance you'd expect from a top-tier GK product.

Heavy-duty cabinet with top-shelf build quality

The build quality of the NEO IV 212 is second to none. Its roadworthy void-free plywood enclosure is bolstered by custom-designed bracing for rock-solid durability. The cab's interior is covered with dampening material, which absorbs high frequencies from the rear of the speaker, thereby preventing these upper frequencies from interfering with the high frequencies emitting from the front. You also get a near-bulletproof metal grille, hard-wearing metal corners, and an ultra-rugged cabinet coating. At Sweetwater, we stand by the NEO IV 212 as a smart choice for modern bass players.

Neodymium speakers and horn construction

When it comes to bass cabs, GK knows what they're doing — after all, they've been at it for a while. They've fitted the Gallien-Krueger NEO IV 212 with two 12-inch paragon cast-frame neodymium woofers. This great-sounding enclosure puts out a solid, tight low end, in addition to articulated mids and highs. This bass cab's voice coils employ edge-wound aluminum ribbon wire for added efficiency and enhanced power handling, and a system to protect the horn from excessive power blasts.

Reviews

a beast in a box
I play bass in a southern gospel group, and bought this 2 x 12 800w 4ohm cab for live gigs. I play 5 string and spend alot of time on the B string. This cab handles those low notes with great ease and clarity. In addition to being loud and robust, it is very light. Only 43 lbs. All bass players that have to handle their own equipment know the importance of light weight cabs. I use a Peavey Headliner 1000w bass amp with it, and its a great set up. The amp is 4 ohm minimum so I can only use this cab by itself. I kinda wish I had bought the 8 ohm cab so I would be able to have a second cabinet. One for each side of the stage. But, the one cab fill a 500 seat church with incredible power and ease. Quick shout out to Brandon Eden at Sweetwater for always making sure my orders are always expedient and correct.

Awesome!!
This was purchased to match up with my MB500. Great, punchy tone. Bite of a 10 with the lows of a 15.
Great cabinet!
Sweetwater's customer service is 5 stars also!!
Music background: Playing bass for 50+ years
These are the real deal.
Bought these cabs as part of the Sweetwater bundle - 1200 Legacy Head and 2 - 2x12 NeoIV cabs.

The rig sounds fantastic.
The 2x12's have more midrange presence and a fuller tone, whereas the 410's are more scooped and tinnier sounding.
Not necessarily a bad thing in either direction, just personal preference.
I feel that the 12's are more versatile, considering you can still scoop the tone with the amp's 4band eq or with your bass' preamp and still get the best of both worlds.

Beware, these cabs are not the lightest. So if you're a frequent performer, be prepared to haul haha.
Quality and finish is fantastic, they're built like tanks.

This rig all together is indescribably loud. Both cabs connected to the 1200 Legacy are pushing 600 watts each - for a total of the full 1200 at 4 ohms. It's INSANELY loud.
A single cab will get the full 800 watts at 4 ohms. Fantastic.

There is almost no scenario in which both of these cabs would ever need to be used together, unless you're just trying to visually impress on stage or literally wanting to become deaf along with your band-mates and audience (-;

Very satisfied with the purchase!
Music background: Professional bassist and musician.
Built like a Tank and sounds like a Cannon
Like so many ,I'm power hungry..The cabs I had were 8 ohms, cheating me of a 3rd of the power my GK Fusion head produces. That can drive two 4 ohms cabs.Power and light weight is what so many seek. You can't go wrong with these cabs if that's your goal. The outer Cover is world class, and built to last, you wont need a Tuki cover..They sounds like a 4x10 cab..Clear as a bell highs, chest thumping powerful yet Clean booty shaking Lows....Very portable gigwise ,it's easy to move 2 of these, they fit in my 2 door Mercedes..
surprised
I've been playing through large cabinets for years.. But this Little cabinet packs a lot of punch.. Is very light weight.. And an incredible unit to play through.I'm very happy with this unit.GK knocked it out of the park with this one!
