ADK’s Modern Reference Classic Munich-7 T
The ADK Munich-7 T large-diaphragm FET condenser microphone embodies the tonal evolution of the coveted classic German tube mics. From the warmth and fatness of the early 1950s models to the improved fidelity and subtle high-end sheen of early ’60s designs, the Munich-7 T serves up an addictive sonic cocktail that will likely make the it the most unique denizen of your mic locker. The Munich is a veritable studio wizard that can capture any vocal or instrument and render it in glorious detail and dimensionality. But aside from its curated sonic charms, the ADK Munich-7 T is a true workhorse mic that can handle almost any source thanks to its tri-polar design, dual highpass filters, and onboard 8dB and 16dB pre-attenuation pads.

Designed to flatter
ADK begins the design process for every new microphone model by targeting specific sonic attributes. Like all T-FET series mics, the Munich-7 T employs a unique proprietary circuit with a custom Carnhill transformer that is expressly designed to saturate gracefully. This tube-like behavior — the gradual addition of euphonic even-order harmonic content — can thus be strategically leveraged by the recording engineer as an enhancement to the signal. As a result, the Munich renders vocals — both male and female — with a rich, warm, full-bodied tonality characterized by fat yet focused lows, a natural midrange, and a gentle high end with a touch of air. These same qualities also make the Munich a natural choice for almost any instrument source with a neutral-to-bright tonal profile.

Three polar patterns = infinite possibilities
The Munich’s three switchable polar patterns — cardioid, omnidirectional, and figure-8 — give you immense flexibility when it comes to exploring the sonic possibilities offered by different recording techniques. Cardioid will be your go-to for the vast majority of recording and sound-reinforcement tasks. Figure-8 (bidirectional) is ideal for capturing face-to-face recordings, such as two background singers on one mic. Omni is perfect for capturing the ambience of a studio or concert hall. Indeed, you can even mic an entire symphony orchestra with just three Munich microphones set to omni, either judiciously spaced or in Decca Tree formation. And with just a matched pair of these superb mics, you can implement stereo techniques such as Spaced Pair (A/B), XY (including Blumlein), ORTF array, and mid-side (M-S).
ADK: modern specs, vintage sound
Driven by musicians and engineers with many decades of experience, ADK’s product development is informed by input from the worldwide community of artists, producers, and golden-eared studio and live sound engineers who assisted in the design of these microphones. Despite their impressive affordability, ADK microphones benefit from both best practices and premium components. ADK mics are engineered with minimalist circuit paths to extract maximum sonic performance from each and every design. As a result, ADK microphones exhibit exponentially better dynamic range and lower self-noise than the vintage classics they’re inspired by. Sweetwater is delighted to offer you ADK’s outstanding lineup of high-value, high-performance mics. Meticulously handcrafted using the best possible components sourced from highly respected parts manufacturers worldwide, ADK microphones are poised to elevate the quality of your sound.
