Custom MIDI Control for Any Mesa/Boogie Amplifier

Control practically any Mesa/Boogie amplifier ever made, with the Mesa/Boogie MIDI Matrix amp controller! Simply connect the MIDI Matrix to your Boogie's multi-pin DIN/XLR or 1/4-inch control input, then connect your MIDI source of choice to the MIDI Matrix. It accepts MIDI Program Change and Control Change messages for your favorite MIDI-capable foot controllers and loop switchers, and can store up to 250 custom presets to maximize your rig control. And support for 9V power makes it easy to power the Mesa/Boogie MIDI Matrix from your pedalboard power supply.

Simple hardware yields vast control options

While the Mesa/Boogie MIDI Matrix essentially grants you full control over any Mesa/Boogie amplifier's footswitchable functions via MIDI, it's crafted with the road-ready design Mesa/Boogie is known for. And with no menus to navigate, you won't have to worry about menu-diving before a gig. Three rows of DIP switches allow you to tailor your controller to whatever switching duties you wish, and eight switching functions can configured as momentary or latching switches for more creative potential. And thanks to completely isolated switching jacks, Sweetwater is pleased to report the MIDI Matrix won't cause ground loops or noise.

Reviews

Controls My Road King Beautifully
Does exactly what it's supposed and does so quite easily! Loved not having to buy another cable since it just uses the foot switch cable that came with my amp.

As for the User Manual, I found it to be jam packed with information, for all of the Mesa gear this thing is capable of controlling.

In response to the previous review from Karl, he must've missed the Quick Start Guide on page 2 or 3, which hand holds you through the entire process of setting up the MIDI Matrix.
Does the job with my Mark V. However...
The manual is absolute garbage, and that is a rarity with Mesa product manuals. I'm no stranger to MIDI, and I even once owned an RJM Amp Switcher that is very similar to this device, but it took me a solid hour to finally configure this thing to work properly with MIDI CC messages. It's relatively straightforward once you decipher the sequence. The manual should have had sections for each use case that gave the order of operations to configure the unit, but no... of course not. Between the run on, unformatted paragraphs of technical information and the non-linear layout of the manual, it was a nightmare.

BUT!...I got it working. And it absolutely does what it's supposed to do. My Mark V works perfectly with my Helix switching the channels and solo boost functions. Is it pricy? Yes. But it's the only way the Helix will work to switch the Mark V channels. The Helix's external amp switching jack causes a ground loop hum with the Mark V, and there is no way around it. This was the right piece of gear for the job, just wish it was like $200 less.
I guess it might work
As a longtime fan of Mesa Boogie amps, I was excited to get the Matrix to use with my Line 6 Helix and Triple Rectifier. However, I don't believe that the Helix and the Matrix work well together. After using the quick start guide, countless YouTube videos, including several times watching Ryan Bruce give instructions on how to use it with Mark V, I am convinced that it works for those people, and not my setup. If you have Midi ready amps, the Matrix is probably awesome. I'm not sure how they work with non-ready amps.

It's hard to imagine a more quintessentially modern guitar amplifier than a Mesa/Boogie, and when Sweetwater guitarists want high-gain tone, Mesa is where they start. One thing we love about these amps is their sheer versatility, such as the massive range of tone you get from each channel, the freedom to use the tubes you love, onboard CabClone cabinet emulation, and MIDI control. And it's not just guitar amps - Mesa/Boogie's bass amps and pedals are equally cool. What's more, thanks to our incredibly close relationship with Mesa, you can even customize your own amp right here on Sweetwater's website! Get the sound and style you want from your next amp, with a Mesa/Boogie from Sweetwater.
