MixWave certainly isn’t the first to emulate a fuzz pedal, but they are the first to incorporate the effects of automatic thermal bias implemented to manage the temperature-sensitive nature of Germanium transistors. Sweetwater’s studio guitarists are impressed with the Benson Germanium Fuzz plug-in's ability to accurately emulate the changes in sonic texture you’d normally find with physical pedals that have Germanium transistors, with temperature fluctuations over longer periods of use impacting the overall sound. This simulated pedal can work just as effectively on mono and stereo signals, with dedicated highpass and lowpass filters for input and output signals. A streamlined interface includes a basic volume output adjustment, a highly dynamic and interactive gain control, and an impedance knob. The latter is designed to model the effect of dialing down a guitar’s volume without affecting the volume of the input signal, resulting in a tight, glistening character. From clean boosts to a wall of overdrive, the Benson Germanium Fuzz plug-in will light up your sound!

You have no clue how much you’d use this
As I embark on my journey through reviewing Mixwave's astounding catalog of plugins, I can't possibly go without mentioning this magic little box. Have you ever used a fuzz? It's a wonderful wonderful alternative to the more traditional saturation alternatives out there and gets so much use on my mixes to the point where I actually don't think I have a viable substitute.

There's a special trick with this plugin that makes all the difference and that is the mix knob. You can push a lot of gain through the circuit and dial back the mix to like 10 or 20% and suddenly you have all the air and hair you could dream of blended with your original vocal or reverb or synth, etc. and it's just bananas. Anytime where I need a more aggressive vocal, 808, etc or texture on a drum machine or effect, I reach for this bad boy.

Don't get me wrong, I love other saturation plug-ins as well, but I often find that they just don't provide the right texture on high frequencies sometimes whereas this thing just really adds what I'm looking for and it's so fun getting that blend just right. You wouldn't think that a fuzz plug-in could be a desert island saturation tool, but here we are.
