Turns out to be a great choice

I was very surprised to discover just how well it works. Being that there are no other reviews to help me make a decision after learning that the one I really wanted was once again out of stock. I thought I have nothing to loose as Sweetwater is wonderful about returns helping you when you get stuck or confused about settings and other silly questions. Silly questions as I had stayed away from the DAW Technology for a long time. After owning an 8 track Studio for many years and using only all hardware, patch bays, outboard gear until it was no longer being used. I later bought a self contained Hardware Firmware Roland 24 track Hard Disk based machine which takes a very long time to compile the final product. I decided to buy the Sonar Platinum package as I was familiar with the Cakewalk Products during the Midi only days it looked complete and offers lots of included VSTs & Plugins for FX. I studied the software for several months before I was able to buy a USB interface. The M Audio products don't appear to be very popular here at Sweetwater as I have looked at other items from M Audio but I have found no help via the reviews. Making me believe the sales of M Audio prod.s to be limited or very small in relationship to the many other fine product choices.only took me one attempt to get the drivers & install the M Audio M track 22M. My USB3 & it Synced up first time. The Included software was a great Bonus I hadn't planned on Cubase but after playing with it I have found it to my liking as I plan on using it. Also the AIr plug-in's are very nice as well again a bonus making the price an even better choice. My only gripe the lack of Audio outputs just 2 but I can live with it. considering the other great features.. It works great has a ton of volume from the headphone jack enough to make your ears hurt and that makes for plenty of headroom in that amp. Otherwise I say buy it its an all steel construction with nice solid connections not loose as others are reported the Fix for loose USB is a piece of paper as a shim if still loose double up the paper fixed. The Pots are extremely nice with a smooth positive action there also firmly mounted to the face plate the large Knob makes me feel as if I have the Apollo Universal Audio interface which I'd love to own but at three time the price. I'd be a bad boy and in the dog house with my wife but we can dream.. No complaints its a great product for the price and with the added software which would cost more than the interface alone it turns out to be a great bargain. Its not going back If & when I need or want the 4 input and balanced outs I can simply afford to buy another device as a back up or a gift for my son who plays guitar. Thanks Brandon Eden for all your help & product knowledge you'll be rewarded for it soon, stay cool. I'm almost ready for more gear.. SO remember I'll be back, as Arnold S. has said

Does the job!

Simple, great functions in a smart design, easy to use, reliable, and good results. A value in its price range. 4 Stars because you can spend more for a super unit but why for a home studio.

Great, But Not As Fast As You Think

This interface was a well built and great sounding unit, however with experimentation and seeing the speed of the bus, I found out that there was vital information on the product missing on M-Audio's side. I plugged the 2x2m into a new Mac with compatible a USB-C connector, (USB-C to USB-C), looked in the Macs system report and found out the 2x2m's transfer rate is 480mbps at a power consumption of 500mA. This means the 2x2m is a glorified USB 2.0 unit. Learned the difficult way that though it has a USB-C connector doesn't mean it has Thunderbolt transfer speeds. The "Zero Latency" M-Audio is speaking of, in its manuals, is in regard to the direct monitoring, not the USB monitoring. If you are looking for something that needs USB-C connector and are okay at USB 2.0 speeds this is a great unit and sounds great. But if you want more speed, 10gbs or more, don't pick this one.
