A Triple Threat of Arena-ready Tube Tones

Clocking in at more than six times the wattage of Mark Tremonti and Paul Reed Smith’s first amplifier collaboration, the PRS Mark Tremonti MT100 100-watt tube amplifier head is a stage-ready update to the immensely popular MT15. This 3-channel head features the same Lead and Clean channels found on the MT15, with the addition of an all-new medium-gain Overdrive channel — the result of five years of tone tweaking between PRS and Mark to capture the rich and organic saturation of Mark’s favorite D-style amps. Each channel sports a self-contained EQ section for straightforward tone shaping, including a 3-band EQ, Presence knob, Master Volume, and Gain/Volume to provide three tones on tap with the click of a footswitch. You also get a squeaky-clean FX loop to integrate your personal stompbox arsenal. Powerful, versatile, and approved by one of modern rock’s most revered guitar heroes: the PRS MT100 sets a new standard for Paul and Mark’s 20-plus years of tonal collaboration.

Pristine cleans to ultra-high-gain grind

Fans of the MT15 will be thrilled to hear that the MT100 comes equipped with high-wattage versions of the MT15’s Clean and Lead channels, allowing you to capture everything from pristine chime to high-gain chug. However, the MT100 is much more than a higher-wattage version of its 15-watt forebearer; the MT100 introduces a lively and dynamic overdrive channel to bridge the gap between Clean and Lead channels.

  • Clean: While high-gain amplifiers can, at times, leave clean tones as an afterthought, PRS and Mark Tremonti designed the MT100 to be a veritable do-it-all amplifier head. Naturally, that includes a lush and dynamic clean section that can go head-to-head with any classic tube amplifier design. From crystal-clear cleans to just a hint of saturation, the MT100’s Clean channel perfectly counterbalances the ripping tone of the Overdrive and Lead channels.
  • Overdrive: The MT100’s Overdrive channel is the result of nearly five years of research and development aimed at capturing the near-mythical tone of Mark’s favorite D-style amplifiers. And after putting the MT100 through its paces at Sweetwater, we can reveal that they’ve nailed it. This channel is perfect for players seeking a remarkably smooth and warm medium-gain tone, with nearly unmatched dynamics and an extraordinary harmonic depth.
  • Lead: First made famous by the MT15, the Lead channel found on the MT100 delivers seriously brutal dirty tones, allowing you to tackle everything from Alter Bridge-style hard rock grind to the drop-tuned depths of modern metal — all while ensuring your tone remains clear, tight, and defined.

Per-channel EQ controls

Each of the MT100’s three channels sports its own dedicated set of controls, supplying an intuitive and straightforward tone-shaping workflow. All three channels come equipped with a versatile 3-band EQ, further bolstered by a Presence knob to impart a touch of high-end sheen to your tone. The Overdrive and Lead channels feature Gain and Master Volume controls to dial in your desired level of dirt, while the Clean channel opts for a more traditional Volume and Master Volume pairing. Put it all together, and the MT100 pairs superlative multichannel flexibility with an intuitive set of controls primed for stage-ready simplicity.

Tube-driven FX loop

From his hard-hitting riffs to his soaring solos, Mark Tremonti almost always tweaks his tone with just a touch of subtle delay to space out his sound. Fittingly, the MT100 boasts a top-of-the-line tube-driven FX loop to accommodate all manner of time-based and modulation effects without coloring your preamp tone. Whether you’re locking in your favorite reverb pedal or mirroring Mark’s always-on delay tone, the MT100’s tube-driven FX loop has you covered.

PRS Mark Tremonti MT100 100-watt Tube Amplifier Head Features:

  • 100-watt tube amplifier head designed in conjunction with modern guitar hero Mark Tremonti of Creed and Alter Bridge fame
  • Tube configuration boasts a whopping 8x 12AX7 preamp tubes and 4 x 6L6 power tubes for rich and organic valve-powered saturation
  • 3-channel design includes the warm, dynamic Clean and brutal Lead channels found on the MT15 amplifier, with the addition of an all-new medium-gain Overdrive channel
  • Each channel sports a self-contained control section, including a 3-band EQ, Presence knob, Master Volume, and Gain (Volume on the Clean channel) controls
  • Crystal-clear effects loop to integrate outboard effects without coloring your tone
  • Includes a footswitch for effortless hands-free channel switching
  • Robust and road-ready chassis, with an endlessly cool industrial-inspired front metal panel
What is Certified Open Box Gear?

At Sweetwater, we're so picky that what we call "Certified Open Box" is actually better than what most music retailers sell as "new" gear! Our gear hasn't endured hundreds of people a week plunking away at all the keyboards, fumbling through Stairway to Heaven on every guitar or playing with every fader and knob on a mixer or control surface.

Certified Open Box (also known as a demo) means we’ve had it out of the box for our YouTube channel, displayed at events, tested in our studio, or maybe it was in a customer’s hands for a few days and isn’t ‘factory fresh’ as a result. Every Certified Open Box item we sell has Sweetwater’s 2-year Total Confidence Coverage™ warranty and has been tested and verified up to ‘new’ specs by our factory-authorized technicians to make sure it’s in perfect working order before we ship it to you.

When you buy a Certified Open Box item at Sweetwater, you get:
  • 2-year Total Confidence Coverage Warranty™!
  • Products inspected and tested by our factory-authorized techs, guaranteed to function like new (or better)!
  • FREE shipping on most items
  • Equipment that will MEET or EXCEED your expectations!

Reviews

Doesn't just fill the room; it becomes the room
I run two of these in stereo through a Line 6 Helix and a pair of Boss TAEs into two 4x12 cabinets, and the result is one of those rigs you have to experience to believe. The sound doesn't just fill the room; it becomes the room. The stereo half stacks create a natural, physical width that no stereo effect plugin or cab sim can replicate. If you've ever considered running a pair, stop considering and just do it.

What surprised me most is how little gain you actually need. I run the lead channel at around 8 o'clock, which in most amps would give you almost nothing; here it's plenty. Pair it with a TS-style pedal as a pure amp pusher (gain off, level up) and the amp does the real work. The OD and Lead channels clean up beautifully with the guitar's volume knob too, which tells you the amp has real dynamic sensitivity rather than just being a gain stage with a volume knob bolted on. Last but certainly not least, this has a legit clean channel (glassy, American-style), better than any other high-gain amp I've ever tried.

The amp is intentionally simple, and that's a big part of how PRS kept it at this price point. Don't let the lack of onboard MIDI scare you off. A Voodoo Lab Control Switcher plus Best-Tronics Mfg MT100 to Voodoo Lab Control Switcher cable per head unlocks it entirely. Assuming you even need MIDI, once you have those sorted, you have a world-class amp with a world-class feature set at a price that doesn't require a second mortgage. Highly recommend.
old school new age super high gain
This is a beast of an amp, there's no line out or amp out or in or digital anything.
And I love it,speaker outs and a effects loop.
The bloom from this amp will punch you in the chest, the eqs are very responsive.
Pete thorns prs amp is another good one,but this one's meaner.
Ungodly amounts of gain, between 2 and 3 your chugging like ola england.
This amp could be the prs holy grail of tone.
I WASN'T EXPECTING MUCH, BUT.........
So let me just say that prior to purchasing this amp head I have been a self proclaimed EL34 snob. I just could never find the right 6L6 amp to suit my needs. Tone wise, there was always something missing. And then I heard a few great demos of this amp on You Tube and decided to take a chance on it. Got it home, set it up in the amp rack in my recording studio, hooked it into my Two Notes Torpedo Studio, found the right IR's for it and gave it a go.

Now I don't know what they did at PRS and I know this amp was five years in the making, but when I flipped the standby switch to on I had "THAT" moment. I was blown away. I mean how could they manage to cop the tones of a Fender Twin meets Bruno Underground 30, a Dumble Overdrive Supreme and a Bogner Uberschall meets a Mesa Dual Rec in convincing fashion, make each channel discreet so it's like having three amps in one and put it all in one head? Well, they did it! It's my new "Swiss Army Knife" of amp heads.

My favorite channel is the Overdrive channel for sure. Dime the gain knob on this channel and use your guitar volume knob to clean it up and you have versatility to do anything in that channel alone. The lead channel is brutal but articulate. The clean channel is like blending a Fender Twin Reverb with a Vox AC30. It just works so well.

Also what I noticed is the amp sounds great when you don't stray too far from noon on the EQ knobs. Use it like a spice. A dab here, a pinch there etc.

Before I even opened it, like I said, I was convinced it was going back. NOPE! SHE'S A KEEPER!

Thanks to my bud and Sales Engineer, David Winkert for all his help.

Just give it a try. I think you'll be surprised with this gem.

Amazing amp!
This amp is everything I thought it would be! Amazing throaty crunch tones, dumble-esque cleans, crystal clean fenderish tones. Only complaint is that I have heard some interference with my phone being right up against the amp- just don't leave your phone on the amp- must share some of the same frequencies as Verizon-iPhones. Even though the amp doesn't have a lot of the extras, I love it. Do wish 1/4 were used for the pedal, but there are companies that can make a new cable if you need 1/4 for a Channel switcher.
PRS MT100
So far I have been satisfied with this product, has the power and versatility I was looking for. The sales staff has been friendly and helpful. This is the second item I have purchased from Sweetwater.
Music background: Played guitar off and on since I was 9 years of age and at 67 now I still enjoy.

You don't even have to play guitar to know that PRS instruments are in a league of their own. With their exquisitely figured tops and premium appointments, each PRS is a playable work of art. But it goes way deeper than the surface. Every time Paul visits Sweetwater, we get a deeper look at his amazing instruments. We've even hosted several PRS Custom Shop events, complete with Paul's personal Wood Library! Whether they're his most affordable SE electric guitars, top-quality acoustics, or amps, it's always amazing to see what PRS comes up with. What's more, we keep a ton of PRS guitars in our amazing Guitar Showroom, so the staff at Sweetwater can get hands on with all of their latest models. We'd love to tell you all about them.
