Programmed for success
Two features set the Harrison Audio MPC Compressor apart from the pack: Program and Gain Reduction History. First, the Pgm (Program) button actuates three parallel signal detectors that are each configured to function at different speeds. Harkening back to the heyday of broadcast radio, the Program feature helps the MPC compressor operate more consistently when working with content that has a wide dynamic range (like the difference between an announcer and music on the radio). Secondly, the Gain Reduction History feature is a graph that displays a detailed timeline of what the MPC Compressor is doing to your signal. Very clever touches, indeed!
Exceptional sidechain
While many compressors have sidechains, Sweetwater mix engineers have discovered the Harrison Audio MPC Compressor’s sidechain is more robust. It features a dedicated single-band EQ, so you can modify the key input signal with five different EQ shapes. This EQ allows you to precisely target only certain elements, such as sibilance, without affecting your entire mix. There’s also a Key Listen function that auditions your external sidechain signal. Sweetwater tip: Clicking the “External Key” button causes the main input and threshold meter to reference the sidechain input, and not the MPC Compressor’s main input signal!
