A Banquet of Phat

Waves MDMX Distortion Modules fortifies your tone arsenal with three distortion plug-ins modeled on three of Sweetwater’s must-have tone-twisting food groups: Screamer, Overdrive, and Fuzz. From classic fat, snarling overdrive to frizzed-out fuzz tones, MDMX Distortion Modules is a tasty banquet of saturated phat that gives you quick and easy access to the awesome distortion sounds your productions crave.

Three flavors: Screamer, Overdrive, and Fuzz

For MDMX Distortion Module, Waves researched musicians’ all-time favorite distortion effects and customized three unique-sounding color boxes to create an incredibly versatile plug-and-play distortion toolkit. Screamer serves up round and fat saturated tones inspired by the classic green guitar overdrive pedal. Overdrive is a versatile, well, overdrive that offers lots of control, from subtle, instrument-enhancing soft clipping to to aggressive oversaturation that’ll strip the paint of your walls. Fuzz sets the table with distinctive fuzz seasonings brimming with copious sprinklings of saturation and sustain, plus a one-octave up/down effect for added fat.

Total tweakability

The MDMX plug-ins offer serious tweakability, with onboard dynamics, EQ and tone controls; “Temperature” controls that adjust overall color and warmth; Mix controls that blend clean and distorted signals; and M/S processing that lets you distort only the mids or sides of the signal — a perfect way to slide an instrument into a mix or change the way a sound relates to the space that surrounds it. The MDMX interfaces put these options right at your fingertips. There’s no menu diving or learning curve to deal with; just juicy, colorful sonic enhancement that’ll add heat, fire, and aggression to your drums, bass, guitars, synths, vocals — or any track you want to make sound great.

Since the early days of DAW software, Waves has been a dominating force in music and audio production. For those of us here at Sweetwater who've been recording since the industry switched over to computer-based studios, it's impossible to imagine sessions without L series Ultramaximizers, MaxxBass, and other staples. Since then, we've been impressed every time Waves has brought top producers such as Jack Joseph Puig and Chris Lord-Alge to Sweetwater to show off their next cutting-edge creations, and Waves is constantly adding new and innovative plug-ins to their catalog. And with cool new gear such as their SoundGrid series, Sweetwater engineers have discovered just how easy it is to use Waves plug-ins live.
