Amazing Sound, Amazing Value.

I spent the last several months researching and listening to samples of numerous different SDC stereo pairs, which eventually led me to the Beyerdynamic MC930 Stereo Set. After thoroughly putting them through the paces, I can honestly say that these mic's have greatly exceeded my expectations. They sound absolutely stunning on my acoustic guitar. I had been using Rode NT5's for the last several years. And while the NT5's have been a decent value, they absolutely pale in comparison to the MC 930's. These mic's are far warmer, and substantially more detailed. I simply can't imagine a stereo SDC pair sounding better than these.

Great Under the Radar Mics

"Under the Radar" has become a cliche in the gear world, but these mics are truly of such high quality that you will wonder why more people don't use them. They may not suit all needs - basically this is a SDC mic that sounds warmer/rounder than most - great for acoustic guitars which is what I purchased them for. Plenty of detail, not harsh in the highs. There really aren't that many options out there for nice, warm sounding SDC's. These are Made in Germany, have nice built in pad & roll-off switches, and come with windscreens and shock-mount mic clips in a stereo pair. With another brand, they'd be twice as much... yet Beyerdynamic is known for high quality in other areas (esp. headphones) and has been making great mics for years. Wake up people!

MC930's are Magical Microphones!!!

The Beyerdynamic MC930 mics are just amazing. I have a nice collection of small diaphragm condensers including Neumann KM184's and vintage AKG 451EB's. I've been in the recording biz since 1969, just to let you know. I never would have considered buying the MC930 if I hadn't been totally taken by surprise by an acoustic recording that had me stop in my tracks and say "wow, that sounds soooo good, what mics were used?" I was informed the MC930 was used. Since then, I've auditioned a number of recordings from chamber and classical to alternative folk and rock, for which the MC930's were used and they all just sounded sooooo good!!! These things sound great on anything, have nice pad and roll off switches, and have a remarkably hot output. Best of all, they are incredibly affordable for such a high quality German made microphone. Get 'em, you won't be disappointed!!!!!

One of the best kept secrets in the sdc world

These things sound way more expensive then they actually cost. The detail is just perfect, and the high end seems to go on forever without it ever getting strident or harsh. As drum overheads they can handle everything from jazz to metal, and as a stereo pair on my acoustic they bring out all the detail and warmth you could ask for. I rarely have phase issues when using them in stereo, and they also take eq very well. I'll put these up against way more expensive mics any day. I wish they had interchangeable capsules, but as a dedicated cardioid pair, I couldn's ask for more. Thanks Sweetwater.
