Just running these power tubes by themselves,, They seem to sound smoother and richer to my ears than the regular str447s that I had previously. The higher frequencies sound a little bit more rounded to me. The mid and mid bottoms sound a bit tighter. Overall these are very good tubes. Especially in a Marshall or Mesa amp.

Great all around EL34 that doesn't sound sterile in my Mesa TC-50. I'm guessing that being a Mesa rebranded TAD EL34 STR Redbase is why. It's one of the few tubes I've purchased that has everything I look for I an EL34. Thank you Tom Phillips & Sweetwater for getting them to me quickly with no issues.

These are consistent 34s. They sound great in my TC50 Combo.

Don't let anyone tell you color codes don't matter. The color is given for pairing of bias level. Bias level greatly affects tone and amp. I use a tube tester and a Bias master probe and test all tubes in and out of the amps I am working on. You can not request a certain color. I ordered 2 sets for a multi watt dual rec. Received one yellow set and one grey set. There is 10ma between the sets. I wouldn't bias an adjustable bias amp with 10ma difference from one set to the other. Kinda sucks because the grey is too hot for my amp as well. But these are great tubes though. Just wish you could order a quad set with the color code needed.
