Great when volume is a concern

I live in a apartment where volume control is a must. Thanks to these and mesh heads I'm finally able to own a drum set. I use this with a line 6 helix and powered monitors for guitar and bass. With my l80's I can now jam at all hours of the day without disturbing the neighbors.

Perfect for Low Volume Playing and Practice

I was needing a low volume solution in order to play my drums at home. Did some research and came across these. Bought this cymbal pack and also purchased the L80 20" ride cymbal. I've got to say that these surpassed my expectations. The feel is just as it is with regular cymbals. There is definitely a pronounced stick sound when playing the hi-hats and ride (which is great for practice and being able to hear the stick articulation,) and the interval between the 16" and 18" crashes is perfect. The crashes could definitely be used in a low volume performance setting, but due to the excessive stick noise on the hi-hat and ride, I would recommend them only for practice. The decrease in volume is as advertised, but in an apartment or shared space, they still might be a little too loud. Overall, very happy with these.

Great for "lower" volume practice

These low volume cymbals are better sounding than I expected. While they do allow you to play with a much more realistic feel than adding neoprene pads, they are not silent and I still couldn't imagine using them in an apartment situation. They do however reduce the volume enough that I do not have to worry about hearing protection or disturbing my neighbors in the neighborhood when I want to practice.

Great for Practice, workable for jams

Picked up these along with some silent stroke heads. It really is amazing how quiet they are compared to regular cymbals. They feel great to play with sticks and the tones are definitely accurate enough to really get into a groove when playing or practicing. I found them all (especially the ride and HH) to have a little more / different stick definition than compared to regular cymbals which made me give 4.5 stars since they aren't perfect. As a drummer with tinnitus it's really great to just be able to sit down and play without having to worry about my ears. I would definitely recommend these to anyone with the same problem. With the silent stroke heads, it's quiet enough to jam with my friend on acoustic guitar, when jamming I usually use multirods on these because I like the tone better.
