Kathryn's story
When Scott Bradoka was ready to own a true 1959 Gibson Burst Les Paul, he had the enviable opportunity to spend hours playing many different instruments, narrowing it down to the perfect one. As soon as he picked up Kathryn, he knew his search was over. "This one played and sounded the best to me, and the neck profile just felt right," said Bradoka. When the luthiers at Gibson Custom met Kathryn, they too knew she was special and made sure to re-create every aspect of her character.
Built to True Historic specs
From the headstock to the lower bout, you won't find anything that isn't authentically 1959 about #46. The neck and the body both employ 1-piece construction, which allows Kathryn to deliver distinctive warm harmonics. And the guitar's figured maple top has been double carved and hand sanded to exactly duplicate Kathryn's unique shape and feel. Even all the plastics used on #46's pickguard, pickup rings, and toggle switch utilize the exact same materials as an original '59. This #46 offers you the same specs as one of the best examples of one of the most desirable models in history.
Vintage PAF tone
Gibson Custom paid just as much attention to this guitar's electronics as they did to the rest of the instrument. Beginning with vintage CTS potentiometers and bumble bee capacitors, every part of its internal signal path was designed to give you absolutely dead-on '59 Les Paul tone. Of course, it's next to impossible to find genuine '50s PAFs (even for Gibson). Instead, #46 sports a pair of Gibson's Custom Bucker humbuckers. The Custom Bucker is the company's most historically accurate PAF copy. You just won't find another Les Paul that comes as close to the original look, sound, and feel of a '59 Les Paul.
