Excellent customer service and great product

LM402 snare drum

This drum tuned up easily with stock heads right out of the box! I've always wanted a Supraphonic and can't believe I've waited so long. Had to retire the17 year old DW after one session with this baby. Special attention to Alden my sales engineer who made sure the drum arrived safely and a day ahead of his projected time! Sweetwater is IT for me, no more need to shop elsewhere in the future !!!
Music background: Born with drumsticks

The only snare you'll need

I have always wanted to find a " vintage " Supraphonic but they were always too pricey, so I decided to buy a brand new model instead. And I am not disappointed at all, the tonal qualities of this drum are limitless. I can't believe I haven't had one of these sooner.

Really outstanding

This is a very articulate and lively snare. I did replace the heads with an Evans Genera Dry batter and an Evans 300 resonant head--I don't tend to like pronounced overtones. I spent quite a bit of time experimenting with different tunings and snare tension. What I found is that this drum sounds very good over a wide variety of tunings. You can also vary the amount of projection and "in-your-face" nature of the drum with the snare tension. Tight, and it is very snappy and loud; a bit looser, and it is warm and responsive. At this point, I have it set pretty loose, and the wires buzz a bit when I hit the other drums on the kit, but they do so in an unobtrusive and musical way. Tightening the wires up would remove the buzz, but I actually like it. I have the resonant head quite tight and the batter head decently tight as well--I use a TuneBot and the drum is tuned to G. The drum sounds excellent with my Gretsch kit. It is wonderfully responsive and the sound varies with how hard you hit it in a musical way. I'm not going for a John Bonham or Alex Van Halen sound; I just wanted an excellent snare that I could play for the rest of my drumming days. This is great. Also easy to tune and seems to be well built.
