Maximize the Sonic Potential of Your Digital Rig

Boasting 400 watts of flat, full-range amplification power, Laney’s LFR-112 is the perfect partner for any guitarist looking to make the most of their digital stage rig. This active cabinet’s combination of a 12-inch custom driver and a 1-inch LaVoce compression driver provide you with a stunningly full-range and flat 47Hz to 20Khz frequency response, allowing you to take full advantage of the limitless sonic possibilities offered by modern modeling and profiling rigs. Looking to plug straight into the PA? The Laney LFR-112 also comes equipped with DI out that features switchable cabinet emulations for authentic mic’d-up tones. You also get an HF trim knob, aux in, link out, and even a light-up front panel to show off your Laney in style. For those musicians who have fully embraced the guitar’s digital revolution, Sweetwater’s guitarists are in agreement: the Laney LFR-112 400-watt active guitar cabinet is an essential upgrade to take your rig into the 21st century.

Dual drivers for a full, flat response

If you’re committed to capitalizing on the truly unlimited tonal options presented by modern modeling and profiling gear, the relatively narrow range of a traditional passive cab may present problems. Modern active cabs such as the Laney LFR-112 utilize a far flatter, broader frequency response than your typical vintage-style speaker-in-a-box designs, giving you a neutral, uncolored platform upon which to build your dream tone. How does the LFR-112 accomplish such a lofty feat? A 2-way speaker system, including a robust 12-inch custom driver and a 1-inch LaVoce compression driver. This combo grants you a seriously sweeping 47Hz to 20kHz frequency response, ready to accommodate everything from vintage-style tube amp saturation to all-out djent and grind to effect-laden shoegaze shimmer.

An assortment of functional features

In addition to the LFR-112’s extraordinary sonic features, this cab sports an equally impressive array of utility functions. From the flexible I/O (including XLR/jack combi sockets, aux in, and link out) to built-in tilt mechanism, the LFR-112 comes ready to excel in any environment. Finally, we can’t help but love how Laney built in a switchable light on this amp’s front panel to imbue your LFR-112 with a luminous presence up onstage.

Laney LFR-112 400-watt Active Guitar Cabinet Features:

  • Active guitar cabinet designed to maximize sonic potential of digital guitar rigs
  • 400W of power, 1 x 12-inch custom driver, and 1-inch LaVoce compression driver deliver a remarkably full-range punch
  • 47Hz–20kHz Laney Full Range Flat Response
  • XLR DI out with switchable cabinet emulation
  • High-frequency trim to tweak your signal’s trebles
  • XLR/Jack combi sockets, Aux in and link out
  • Toggleable front illumination to light up your Laney on the stage
What is Certified Open Box Gear?

At Sweetwater, we're so picky that what we call "Certified Open Box" is actually better than what most music retailers sell as "new" gear! Our gear hasn't endured hundreds of people a week plunking away at all the keyboards, fumbling through Stairway to Heaven on every guitar or playing with every fader and knob on a mixer or control surface.

Certified Open Box (also known as a demo) means we’ve had it out of the box for our YouTube channel, displayed at events, tested in our studio, or maybe it was in a customer’s hands for a few days and isn’t ‘factory fresh’ as a result. Every Certified Open Box item we sell has Sweetwater’s 2-year Total Confidence Coverage™ warranty and has been tested and verified up to ‘new’ specs by our factory-authorized technicians to make sure it’s in perfect working order before we ship it to you.

When you buy a Certified Open Box item at Sweetwater, you get:
  • 2-year Total Confidence Coverage Warranty™!
  • Products inspected and tested by our factory-authorized techs, guaranteed to function like new (or better)!
  • FREE shipping on most items
  • Equipment that will MEET or EXCEED your expectations!

Reviews

The Absolute Best.
Gotta say, paired with my Kemper, this speaker blows every other speaker I've tried completely out of the water.

Jamming today with the bass player in the band I play in, not only does it sound better than every amp I've ever had, but the way it resonates through the room, I venture to say that you could pull small gigs even with this without having to DI your digital rig. Have not tested this with a drummer yet, but I have no question it'll do just fine especially for guys who may not have a decent PA setup and want a good guitar sound with an "Amp". I put this behind me, and one of the small Headrush speakers in front of me and the sound is huge. At home I make it into a baby stack.

Made all of my profiles sound amazing, cleans were clean, distortion was perfect, and even super scooped mids, this thing was thriving. Will forever recommend this.

Outstanding.
Laney... when you're with me, I'm smiling.
I've tried a few options for use with my guitar modelers... JBL PA speakers, my JBL studio monitors, a pair of Boss Katana 50 EX, and a Headrush FRFR-112. The Katanas were my favorite for electric sounds, with a cabinet-esque tight sound, but they fell short for acoustic/piezo/synth tones due to the lack of a high-end driver. The JBL and Headrush PA speakers did ok with the high end, but sounded boxy and boomy, generally. The JBL studio monitors sounded incredible, but due to my setup, caused latency and workflow issues and weren't suitable for loud playing.

The solution? A pair of Laney LFR-112 (via my Sweetwater rep Kent Sallaz). The Laneys have the tightness and cabinet-like sound of the Katanas, but with the high-end of the PA-type speakers due to the high-end driver. They also look amazing, especially in the dark.

The Laneys are bigger than the Katana 50s, despite also having a 12" driver (See photos.) Head-to-head, though, the Laneys sounded vastly better for sources with high-frequency content. They aren't studio monitor quality, but they are quite listenable even feeding music in through the Aux jack.

Highly recommended.
THIS IS THE ONE !!
Tried several different fr's and amp/cab combo's with my modelers, and wish i would've tried this one first. looks and feels like a real cab. I even get feedback!!
loved it so much i bought another one and am now in stereo bliss.
Great FRFR
After trying several FRFR cabinets for my Fractal FM3 and not being really satisfied, I took a chance on this Laney LFR112. I AM GLAD I DID!!!! This cabinet gave me the transparency I was looking for and gave me the closest "amp in the room" sound I've heard from a modeler. Not sure how it interacts with the other major modelers, (QC, Kemper, Helix) but it seems that this could be the go to for those running Fractal products.
I love It
I shouldve got one a long time ago. Perfect for my helix and not just for guitar and bass. Will likely get a second one.
