A gem in each drum
A perfect formula for intermediate drummers, the poplar-plied shells of the Element Evolution strike a great balance in sound and playability. While poplar is known for its accessibility, professional kit builders — including Ludwig — have infused the tonewood into their flagship models for the better part of a century for its fine blend of dry responsiveness and warm, evenly punchy tonal character. Rock, pop, jazz, metal — poplar welcomes all genres equally! Supporting this sound are lightweight, stick-saving triple-flanged hoops for each tom and Ludwig Classic-style lugs with rubber insulators for solid tuning dependability and excellent noise reduction. Even the included snare features Ludwig’s handsome Bowtie center-mounted lugs.
Upgraded and included hardware set
The Element Evolution puts its best foot forward around every curve to provide advancing percussionists with a kit that won’t fold under pressure. Notable improvements begin with its rack tom system, including an upgraded base plate, a double-tom holder with 10.5mm tom arms, and a tom bracket and suspension mount. The snare drum’s throw-off mechanism has also been revamped for snaring efficiency. Each shell comes topped off with Remo UT Pinstripe clear drumheads for ideal rebound, ruggedness, and projection.
To sweeten matters, Ludwig has bundled in a hardware set to help players get grooving as soon as possible. Double-braced stands throughout ensure maximum stability, which extends to a pair of boom cymbal stands, a snare basket stand, and a tripod hi-hat stand. The adjustable ease of this hardware set helps every player find the most comfortable configuration to sound their best, complete with memory locks for total set-and-forget convenience when breaking down and setting back up again. To round out this bundle, a speedy, double-sided, dual-chain-drive kick pedal and a comfortably padded round-top throne provide an excellent boost in kit control.
The Ludwig legacy
With a proud legacy that dates back to 1909, Ludwig drums are a favorite among Sweetwater drummers for their warm, punchy sound. The world has heard them in front of Cream’s Ginger Baker, keeping the pulse behind Queen at Live Aid, and laying down the monstrous sound of Led Zeppelin’s “When the Levee Breaks.” But the company’s biggest break came when Ringo Starr proudly played them on The Ed Sullivan Show in 1964. The Element Evolution drum set carries this impressive legacy forward.
