Multi-scale Bass with a Bold Look and Sound

Every inch of the ESP LTD B-1005SE's adventurous neck is crafted for playability and tone. An Extra Thin U profile, with a 400mm-radius rosewood fingerboard and multi-scale frets, gives low strings deeper bass while making high strings easier to play and more tonally discrete. A swamp ash/rosewood body with Nordstrand P-style pickups and active 3-band EQ provides plenty of tone shaping to help your riffs and grooves find space in a mix. Finally, stable Gotoh tuners and an adjustable deluxe Hipshot Solo bridge system provide rock-solid intonation for the stage and studio.

ESP LTD B-1005SE Multi-Scale 5-string Electric Bass at a Glance:
  • 5-string bass with exotic looks and bold tones
  • Multi-scale frets for a unique look and big bottom
  • Carey Nordstrand pickups bring toughness to the sound
5-string bass with exotic looks and bold tones

The ESP LTD B-1005SE may look intimidating at first blush. But this bass's swamp ash body with striking rosewood top, 5-piece wenge and bubinga neck, and Carey Nordstrand pickups delivers a supreme playing experience that many players will take to instantly.

Multi-scale frets for a unique look and big bottom

Fanned-style frets give each string on the LTD B-1005SE a different scale length: 34" for the 1st and 37" for the 5th. This gives it a deep-reaching low end without sacrificing playability in the high registers. Take it from Sweetwater: the LTD B-1005SE's unique look and sound will make your audience sit up and notice.

Carey Nordstrand pickups bring toughness to the sound

A pair of low-noise Nordstrand Big Splits pickups gives the LTD B-1005SE a wide range of sonic territory to explore for modern rock, pop, and metal. Cycle through the B-1005SE's 3-band EQ to find aggressive picked tones, fat thumping bass, and everything in between.

ESP LTD B-1005SE Multi-Scale 5-string Electric Bass Features:
  • Deluxe five-string bass
  • Multi-scale fret design (37"-34") gives a fuller tone to low strings
  • Nordstrand Big Splits pickups for low-noise output with a modern edge
  • 3-band active EQ with 2 toggles for diverse tonal options
  • Swamp ash body with a solid rosewood top for a fast response and great looks
  • Bolt-on 5-piece wenge/bubinga neck with rosewood fingerboard for a bright midrange
  • Black Gotoh tuners with matching black hardware

I joined a band that tunes to drop F. I bought a ESP LTD D-6 thinking it would do the job, and while it was a good instrument, it lacked any sort of definition at that tuning. The extra three inches on the b string goes a loooong way in terms of clarity and definition. I went from flubby mud to crispy clean. The electronics on this are also excellent. Messing with the EQ and the mid range boost gives a massive variety of tones. Also if the fanned fret worries you in terms of playability, don't fret. (See what I did there?) There was absolutely zero learning curve. If anything it's actually more playable then a traditional fretboard. The looks are obviously gorgeous, I was blown away by the attention to detail this bass has compared to my last one. It's also very light which is a must for gigs and long practices. Anyways, to quote Ferris Bueller: "If you have the means, I highly recommend it"
Music background: Deatchcore, hardcore, punk

Sweetwater Advice

ESP LTD B-1005SE Multi-Scale Bass

The B-1005SE shined in the tone department and I was quite happy with the palette of sounds I could call on. I experimented with what the bass had to offer at a blues jam by plugging into a Bergantino B|Amp and a pair of Bergantino HD112 cabinets. In its flat setting, the B-1005SE established a firm foundation amongst two guitarists, a keyboardist, and a loud drummer. The Nordstrands were snappy and transparent in passive mode and revealed the warm and punchy characteristics of the chosen woods, but I preferred pairing the pickups to the 3-band EQ....
