Sweet-sounding Compression You'll Want to Leave On

With the Kongpressor pedal, Orange is utilizing optical compression to deliver superior tone, sustain, and sheen. You'll find that the controls for attack and release sound great all the way through their range. The volume control determines the pedal's output, and you'll be able to hear the detail in your tone, thanks to an onboard active chime circuit that adds and removes top-end sparkle. The Kongpressor is no one-trick pony. It is just as happy in front of a gained-up amp, nailing chicken pickin' tones, or simply smoothing out your performance.

Legendary British tone

Orange has been an iconic rock 'n' roll brand since the dawn of distorted electric guitar. Their high-powered bass and guitar amp heads have powered the backlines of everyone from Black Sabbath to the Eagles of Death Metal. The company also helped kick off the lunchbox amp revolution with their famous Tiny Terror amp line. The Kongpressor is an addition to the company's recent line of high-quality effects pedals that are taking the industry by storm. If you're looking to pick up some legendary British tone from Sweetwater, look no further.

Reviews

Great When it’s on...
When the pedal is on it sounds amazing! It has beautiful sonically pleasing compression, that has a lot of range, and dials in beautifully with the attack and release allowing for a beautiful "bloom" of the signal.
The problem is when the pedal is off, I frequently end up with clipping occurring in the pedals buffer, which produces a very harsh choppy clipping. I typically have mine always on, so it isn't a constant issue for me, but the buffers in all of the orange pedals I own have this exact same issue. (The issue persists at 9V and 12V)
Worth the price of admission
I'd be the first to admit that compression is not my go-to effect. It should be, but I often turn the compressor off and only turn it back on when something doesn't feel right. That's strange because when I'm mixing, compression is the first thing I do to sculpt the sound: Often multiple layers of it. Some of my favorite production compressors are optical, so I started looking for one to put on my board and came across the Kongpressor.
Finally, a compressor that I can leave on all the time. I put this in front of a Princeton Reverb and it's magic. Dial in a fast attack for snappy chicken pickin licks. Dial in a long attack when you want the notes to bloom. This is not a set it and forget it pedal. It can be, but if you do that you miss out on the fun.
By their nature, all compressors add sustain, but the Kongpressor does so much more.
Music background: Too many years of playing to not be better at it.
Always on.
This one of those rare "always on" pedals. I think it's the "chime" knob that makes the difference - I just turn it to where I enjoy the tone, and the compressor does its subtle thing that we all like. I own a bunch of compressors, and for the most part they are just sort of complicated, and they take some element of my tone away. Not this one. I just love it.
Music background: I get paid to play originals and you can too.
Great for Bass
I've had this pedal for a few months now and all I can say is wow! This pedal competes with and may even surpass the Cali76 but that's just an opinion. I can say this thing makes my lows smooth and my highs beautiful with an added sustain that feels natural. I highly recommend this pedal for bass guitar and can't think of any reason not to purchase, if it had led lights to show input/output signal it would be perfect.
Music background: Playing for 40 years.
It Squashes like a bonkers gorilla
It's great, it does what an optical compressor should, it produces a very musical compression, and has massive headroom running at 12V. I love this pedal!
