Get Total Control Over NI Komplete!

Take command of your Komplete instrument collection like never before, with the Native Instruments Komplete Kontrol S61 keyboard. Far from a typical MIDI keyboard, this unique controller interfaces directly with your NI Komplete instruments, making it freakishly easy to find the sound you want, adjust parameters in real time, and create music in your favorite DAW. Use the Komplete Kontrol S61's purpose-built browser section to navigate through NI's tag-based preset system, remap parts of the smooth-playing Fatar keybed to play chords or scales, and even control your DAW right from the transport section — it's all there!

Designed for perfect integration with Komplete

When Native instruments introduced their universal tag-based preset system, the Maschine users here at Sweetwater were absolutely stoked. Now they've extended the same capabilities with their Komplete Kontrol S series keyboards. Using the Komplete Kontrol S61's intuitive browser controls, not only can you call up any NI instrument in your collection, you can select individual presets, narrowing down your search by descriptive keywords. Once you've loaded your sound, a set of touch-sensitive controls lets you dial in and tweak your tone on the fly via Native Instruments' Native Map, and the Clear View display lets you view the instrument's most important details at a glance.

You'll love playing on this amazing Fatar keybed

There are a few good reasons why keyboardists and keyboard makers love Fatar keybeds like the one in this Native Instruments Komplete Kontrol S61. In addition to being extremely well built, they feel fantastic, offering enough resistance so that you can really lay into the keys while recovering fast enough for synth-style repeats. Whether you're playing a piano patch courtesy of The Giant or a lead via Monark, these keys won't let you down. For added expression, Native Instruments also gave the Komplete Kontrol S61 a pair of touch strips, which let you pull off mod and pitch-bending moves out of reach for ordinary control wheels. What's more, the Komplete Kontrol S61's integration with Komplete 9 and up includes its multicolor Light Guide — a series of LEDs above each key that offers performance feedback and reveals advanced playing features.

Advanced control options enhance your workflow

There are several additional functions onboard the Komplete Kontrol S61 that make playing virtual instruments and writing music even more fun and productive. For instance, you can play chords with single keys or map key ranges to different scales, and the onboard arpeggiator goes far beyond typical arpeggiation, offering you creative new ways to come up with melodies. And to make controlling your DAW of choice simpler, Native Instruments gave the Komplete Kontrol S61 a full set of transport controls.

Includes Komplete 11 Select software bundle

Komplete Kontrol S-Series keyboards include Komplete 11 Select — a premium collection of 11 instruments and effects. Includes Massive, Monark, Reaktor 6 Factory Selection, Reaktor Blocks Wired, Reaktor Prism, Retro Machines Mk2, Drumlab, Kontakt 5 Factory Selection, West Africa, The Gentleman, Scarbee Mark I, Vintage Organs, Replika, and Solid Bus Comp. Komplete Kontrol, Kontakt 5 Player, and Reaktor 6 Player are also included. Komplete 11 Select is provided as a download after hardware registration.

Komplete Kontrol NKS and more

Native Instruments has expanded the power of the Komplete Kontrol S keyboard series by introducing the Native Kontrol Standard (NKS) plug-in format, adding VST compatibility, and providing new parameter customization options. The NKS plug-in format invites third-party plug-in developers to include support for Native Map, Light Guide, and Smart Play functions right into their virtual instrument. You can also load VST instruments, taking advantage of Komplete Kontrol's browsing, custom tagging, and personalized parameter mapping for all of your favorite soft synths. And with the new parameter customization control panel, NKS makes it easy to create your own instrument mappings to get ideal hands-on control of your virtual instruments.

Good Choice

Classically trained from youth, I've learned to compromise the 88-key / 'accurately' weighted 'piano world'. I've used a Korg Triton Extreme 76 keys for years, and would simply turn the Local OFF for midi use. I wanted to upgrade to a more compatible midi controller with more plugins, etc. After careful research, and advice from my Sweetwater rep Brian VanDekeer (which I always do) ... I bought this Komplete Kontrol S61. AND YES ... I DID purchase the Native Komplete 11 Ultimate Plugin package also (btw ... no, you DON'T have to buy Komplete Select first then get the upgrade, it's included in the Ultimate). I am very pleased with my purchase! It is more than compatible with Komplete 11 Ultimate, and is actually designed for working with it. The key action is pretty much what I expected, and I'm happy with it. I also use this accessing the likes of Omnisphere 2 and Keyscape. Haven't acquired Vienna Symphonic or East West plugins just yet, but I KNOW this keyboard will perform to my satisfaction with those as well.

I Bought This For Its Fatar Keybed, BUT...

I bought this for it's Fatar keybed after owning many Kurzweil instruments and multiple Moog instruments all with Fatar keybeds. I love their actions whether a synth style, like this 61 key keybed, or piano style. I expected a great midi controller and was not disappointed. Then I tried Komplete Selected and wow was I blown away! The upright piano was really dead on. So the next week I upgraded to Komplete so I could have their Grand Piano, FM8 an FM synthesizer, and the best I've heard Strummed acoustic. Everything I tried were very accurate with lot's of options. I own a Forte which I thought sounded very good but the Komplete or the included Select version sounded noticeably better and the (Kuzweil) Forte is no slouch. I'm really impressed and I love the way it plays!

This is a fantastic keyboard. The screen is bright and crispy, the keys feel great, and the knobs and buttons are very solid. So many things to love about the keyboard but I never knew how much I'd appreciate the touch strips replacing traditional mod and pitch wheel. It feels so much more expressive. As of right now I'm only using it with the Komplete Select package it comes with (plan on purchasing komplete ultimate later), but the controls for navigating the software are simple and intuitive. The UI is great. This was a very strong purchase. The screen alone puts this in a class of its own. If you're looking to play some chords etc with some breathing room, but the 88 is too big, get this. Setting up the Komplete Select library was simple as well and this comes extremely well packaged.

The keybed is incredible... best I've ever used. With the Komplete Kontrol software you can do anything from browsing the Komplete Library to automating dozens of parameters while recording in your DAW. Well worth the money, but also well worth looking up a few tutorials to really master all that this baby can do.

No ordinary midi controller

The integration level with komplete 10 and most daw's is worth the admission price. To be able to loop record your ideas on several komplete kontrol plugin instances on your daw and to just keep the creative juices flowing without lifting your hands from this keyboard is just what my personal workflow needed. All this being said, if you are a pro tools user, integration is NOT 100%.

Sweetwater Advice

Justin Englert

When I got my Native Instruments Komplete Kontrol keyboard into my studio it didn't take long for it to become an essential part of my creative workflow. By automatically mapping each Komplete instrument's most important parameters across the controls, this keyboard lets me reach out and grab filter cutoffs, envelope settings, effects chains, and more. It's an intimate approach to sound design, and I don't have to set anything up! I also love the color-coded Light Guide, which gives me endless scale variations. Not only does this let me experiment with new scales, but I can easily find the scale that matches my mood, every time I sit down to make music.

Imagine how tough it is for the developers at Native Instruments. You've got this package called "Komplete" that comes loaded with basically everything you can think of including software instruments, sound libraries, effects plug-ins...a full selection. Not bad...until you realize that you have to top yourself! Somehow, NI keeps coming up with new instruments, new effects, and more of everything! Which brings us to Komplete 10 and Komplete 10 Ultimate. Komplete 10 includes 39 virtual instruments, processors, and effects. Its libraries total more than 12,000 sounds. Ten new titles have been added to Komplete 10, including new synths such as Rounds, Kontour, Polyplex, and Drumlab; instruments such as Session Horns and The Grandeur, The Maverick, and The Gentleman pianos; and effects such as Driver and Supercharger. Adding these 10 to the existing list of Komplete mainstays -- Absynth, FM8, Battery, Reaktor, Kontakt, Massive, and more -- gives you an array of sounds at your fingertips that is truly mind-blowing. Komplete 10 Ultimate offers a whopping 75 virtual instruments and effects, with over 17,000 sounds! Everything in Komplete 10 is included, plus Session Horns Pro, Molekular, Rise & Hit, and loads more libraries. It's so big that it comes on a hard drive for easy install. Komplete Kontrol Big news from NI: keyboards! There are three members in the new Komplete Kontrol S Series family: 25-key, 49-key, and 61-key versions. The Komplete Kontrol S keyboards connect to your computer via USB, but there are also MIDI ports. Komplete Kontrol S comes with an app/plug-in called Komplete Kontrol for browsing Komplete. You can search through the various Komplete instruments, load sounds, and navigate, all from the dedicated buttons and data knob on the keyboard. The keyboard's eight knobs automatically map to each Komplete instrument. The Scale button changes the scale that the keyboard is playing -- you can even assign any scale to just the white keys. The Chord function allows playing a complete chord using one key. A powerful arpeggiator can perform in a variety of modes, and transport controls are below it. On the left are two touch-strip controllers that serve as pitch bend and mod wheel controllers, or they can be assigned to other parameters or put into unique modes. A deceptively powerful feature of the Komplete Kontrol S keyboards is the innovative Light Guide -- a series of color-changing LEDs, one above each key. These serve a variety of purposes. In Scale Mode, they indicate the keys in the scale. Or, they can show the range of various samples on the keyboard, for example, the drum assigned to each key in Battery. Light Guide can also be used to indicate which keys perform key switching on certain patches and more. In Use Using a Komplete Kontrol S Series controller keyboard with Komplete brings an entirely new perspective to the experience. The Komplete Kontrol S integration with Komplete allows you to keep your attention on the keyboard and on what your ears are hearing, without shifting thought and attention toward what is happening on the computer's display. The software, computer, and keyboard become one instrument that you can play and use to create. Komplete itself is amazing. It's not hyperbole to say that any sound or any effect is in there -- even some you've never thought of or imagined. You can, of course, use Komplete 10 without a Komplete Kontrol S keyboard. But combine it with a Komplete Kontrol S Series keyboard, and you have an incomparable studio and live instrument, with thousands of sounds and effects. Unbelievably powerful!
