Your Key to the Contemporary Controller Standard

They say the third time's a charm — and that axiom holds true in the case of Arturia's KeyLab mk3. The tertiary iteration of the company's iconic controller line brings forth an amalgamation of upgraded controls, expression, and included software tools, leaving producers and performers alike with an armory of professional-level musical utilities. A new 3.5-inch full-color display is the KeyLab mk3's immediately noticeable feature, servicing onboard integration with Arturia Software, Ableton Live, FL Studio, and more for solid visual reference during performances and recording sessions. Additionally, the mk3 has been fitted with USB-C power to ensure compatibility with most modern and future setups, complete with all required pedal inputs for excellent integration with any pre-existing rig. Aside from every updated asset onboard the KeyLab mk3, it has retained its sturdy aluminum structure and meticulous wooden paneling — a tip of the cap to Arturia's constructional roots while ensuring top-tier rigidity for any playing environment.

Updated keybed boasts brilliant modern control

Updated and designed to retain the utmost in Arturia's latest playability standards, the KeyLab mk3 is armed with an entirely enhanced keybed, loaded with expressive functionality that keeps both producer and performer in mind. With 61 keys of tactile velocity and aftertouch control, you'll apply boundless new dynamic possibilities onstage, navigating high-octane play with any loaded plug-in, synth, or hardware device. Plus, nine encoders, 12 pressure-sensitive performance pads, and onboard sustain and auxiliary pedal inputs further drive personal control and sonic manipulation to soaring new heights. Take it from Sweetwater's astute Arturia advocates: the KeyLab mk3 is among the company's most enterprising controllers to date.

Immediate instrumental potential

As with past KeyLab models, the mk3 arrives with no shortage of software and instrumentation to ensure immediate creativity right out of the gate. Kick things off with an included copy of Ableton Live Lite, a professional-level DAW servicing a bounty of onboard tools for seamless arrangement and composition control. Within, feel free to include the KeyLab mk3's bundled NI The Gentlemen, Loopcloud, and Melodics software — not to mention an all-access pass to Arturia's Analog Lab Pro software, containing over 2,000 vintage-inspired and contemporary instrument presets for instant inspiration and control over your sound. Topped off with built-in integration with all the aforementioned programs, the KeyLab mk3 makes defining, managing, and manifesting your creative ideas a breeze.

Reviews

Arturia KeyLab mk3 61
I rarely write reviews on instruments and other music related equipment because typically the products are open to interpretation based on personal perspective or opinion. But I must state that the Arturia KeyLab mk3 is everything as advertised, and more. From the fantastic key bed to the DAW integration...the encoders to the pads...the construction with the real wood sides and the weight is absolutely perfect. I was in need of a new controller and shopped several brands for some time, I finally pulled the trigger on Arturia and I'm extremely glad that I did. If you're on the fence as I was doubt no more, give it try and I'm sure that you won't be disappointed. You won't find more "bang for the buck"as the Arturia KeyLab mk3 series keyboard controllers and Sweetwaters support is nothing less than outstanding.

Excellent Keyboard Midi Controller
If you're in the market for a 61-key MIDI controller and are already using Arturia software, this is a great choice—especially if you don't already own a 61-key KeyLab. If you already own a KeyLab MK2, it may not be worthwhile. I upgraded from a smaller 37-key controller, and the difference is remarkable, though those with high-quality keyboards might not feel as big of a leap. Initially, I was concerned about the lack of polyphonic aftertouch, but I was relieved to find it does have channel aftertouch. The keys have a fantastic feel, with just the right amount of bounce, reminiscent of an organ—far superior to the KeyLab Essential series. Any doubts I had were quickly dispelled the moment I started playing.

The price is spot-on for the premium experience, and I'm excited for many years of use in both studio and live settings. For $ more Arturia could have added the polyphonic aftertouch and other features that are missing (CV output, channel buttons), but for the price and my needs, this has far out-weighed my expectations.
Fantastic Keybed and creative features

Solid midi keyboard with a quality keybed. I owned the Mk1 Keylab 49-key and have missed it ever since I sold it. The 61-key Mk3 is a solid upgrade over the first one. I prefer that the modulation and pitch bend wheels are also located above the keybed, making this keyboard just a few inches wider than the 49-key variant.

The screen and built-in creative features such as the Chord, Scale, and Arpeggiator, work great too. The Hold button is nice too when you don't want to keep your foot on the sustain - in this keyboard the "Hold" acts as a "sustain" rather than just holding note(s) like the Keylab Essential. The software suite included is great too - i.e., Analog Lab Pro, Augmented Strings, Mini V4, Piano V3 all sound fantastic - granted I wish Analog Lab Pro didn't feel like a marketplace more than an instrument - but that's a different matter.

$ is a bit much for a midi keyboard, but it starts to make sense given the build quality of the package. The competition seems to be priced around the same, give or take.

Step into the future (at least for guitar players)
Some of the keys on my mpk249 were starting to die off. So, it was time for a new Midi controller to use for my home recordings. After looking at all the options out there, I went with the Keylab 61 mk3. First off, the internet said good things about the build quality. Yep, all true. The other huge improvement for me was the integration between the hardware and the included Arturia virtual instruments. They sound great and are sync'd to the hardware. For a guy stumped by the technology of a Martin o-18 this is a huge plus.

Lastly, I want to shout out Sweetwater's tech support. I was having trouble running this thru Studio one. After struggling with this and not making any progress, I gave them a call. Good news is they didn't fix it in 2 seconds. They struggled for a couple of hours before figuring it out, which made me feel better about not being able to figure it out. Once we got the routing figured out it's been flawless. I would definitely recommend buying the keylab from Sweetwater.

Amazing
came from the NI mk2 s49 I think it was, this is miles better. Analog Lab is cool was hoping it was gonna replace most of my Komplete stuff, I know it didn't have drums but I was hoping more bass and guitar sounds, its kinda lacking there but the stuff it comes with sound great.
