One of the best controllers out there!

I've been using the Arturia for awhile now, and have been just blown away at what it can do!! (especially for its price) I use it as a controller in the studio and as onstage as a main keyboardist at church, and I have never been disappointed with it! I use Ableton Live and MainStage, and it has worked just flawlessly! I would definitely recommend the Arturia to anyone, Pro keyboardist or even just a keyboard hobbyist, regardless you will not be disappointed.

Best Midi Board out

The Arturia 88 is AMAZING!!! As a university student of music (classical piano major, music technology minor) I can say this is the best midi controller I have yet encountered. The keybed is incredibly realistic. I went to about 5 shops and tried all the digital and stage pianos as well as midi keyboard (including the roland A-88) and this has by far the most realistic piano feel!!! The A-88 was my second choice, but this was the best hands down. Chopin's Aeolian Harp sounded incredible on it! The keys are heavy, but no heavier that a heavy piano. The software (Pianoteq 5 and Arturias own synth plugin) it comes with is worth almost $ in itself. The board is 12 kg, making it extremely portable. It comes with a detachable stand, and a detachable rubber extension of the board on which to sit your computer (a major help if you're planning on playing live sets from your DAW while playing piano.) Looks beautiful Buy it!

Best Playing MIDI Controller on the Market

I have been using MIDI controllers for years for both recording and live stage settings. I was looking for something that worked well with Ableton, Mainstage, Kontakt, Reason, etc, but also looking for something that played like a piano. I also own an AKAI MPK88. The AKAI is a nice keyboard, but the action doesn't feel anything like the Arturia. At times the AKAI will miss triggering a note if you are playing the same note in a very fast pattern. But the Arturia is a pleasure to play, and it never misses for me. It feels expensive like a Korg Kronos or a Roland Phantom. The faders feed smooth and solid. Nothing about it feels cheap to me. I love the look of it as well. I wish it came in black so it would blend into the stage in a live setting more, but that's no big deal. This is the best MIDI Controller I've ever used. I feel like I ask a lot of my controllers and this one delivers.

As a classical pianist, recording engineer/producer, I absolutely love the Arturia KeyLab 88. It has an awesome piano-like feel, sensitivity is awesome and the keys seem very quiet compared to most weighted keyboards. The Pianoteq plugin that comes with it has some beautiful presets for the grand piano player. I also own the KeyLab 61 which I now use for synth's, strings, organs, etc... The "Analog Lab" plugin which comes with both of these units is awesome. Fat, rich, warm analog sounds that I absolutely love. I really have nothing bad to say about Arturia at this time. I hope their customer support (if ever needed) is as high of quality as the equipment i own.

I honestly do not believe that there is another controller in this price range that can beat this one. Even those twice its price would have a hard time claiming to be better. It is built like a tank and all of the controls are top notch quality. I know that actions tend to be a subjective topic but being a concert level pianist, I find this action very, very good. The software that comes with the controller is excellent as well. I am using it with EWQL Pianos and it works with these pianos very well too. Additionally, all of the pianos that come with Native Instruments Komplete 10 Ultimate work equally well too.I have a Roland DP-10 plugged in to the expression jack and a M-Audio SP-2 plugged in to the sustain jack. I have the expression jack configured for CC67 (soft) and this setup works quite well. I may get another DP-10 for the aux jack so I can do half pedaling. For those who care to compare, I owned the Kawai MPK88 prior to this controller and really did not care for the action. I thought it was stiff and non-responsive at best. I will say that the Kawai had more control options which is good if that is what you are looking for. I just got so tired of the action that I wanted something better and opted for this one. I am glad I did. I won't be looking for another 88 key controller in my studio. This action is top notch IMHO.It excels as an all purpose VSTi synth controller and also controls the Analog Lab software that it ships with very well too. The only thing I would not do with this controller is mix in a DAW. I will reserve that function for a dedicated controller that I will happily place on the top right of this unit.

Sweetwater Advice

Enej Begovic

When I decided to upgrade my production rig, I wanted a controller keyboard that could handle a wide range of functions, so I went withan Arturia KeyLab. In addition to the well-balanced semi-weighted keyboard, I have a whole set of controllers and pads right in front of me, and everything interface easily with any DAW I use. I'm also impressed by the include theAnalog Lab 2 soft synth, which includes high-quality sounds I can use in any genre.
