Eight types of delay

On the Delay Workstation's delay channel alone are eight lush delay types. With the simple turn of a knob you'll conjure sounds such as slapback, tape, digital, subdivided, and many more. The delay channel features four controls for blend, time, feedback, and morph that tailor the tones to your preferences, and also add elements of spring reverb, modulation, and a bit of compression to your delay trails. And the timing of the delay effects can be easily controlled in real time with the onboard tap temp switch.

Six types of reverb

Reverb and delay go together beautifully, which is why Keeley loaded a vast array of both into this pedalboard-friendly design. The reverbs onboard include splashy springs, gargantuan halls, and a spacious shimmer reverb that takes your guitar tones into another dimension. The reverb side of the pedal also contains a digital and tape-style delays for quickly being able to switch between two preset delay tones. And each tone offers enough options to go from a clean sound with a roomy feel to washed-out waves of sonic ambiance.

Fine-tuned controls

Even though the Keeley Delay Workstation multi-effects pedal is hardly larger than many other single pedals, it packs an unbelievable amount of tone-tailoring control into just the right amount of knobs. Each channel features its own footswitch for stacking effects or running them individually. Stereo outputs spread your signal for a sound and feel that needs to be experienced. And the expression pedal input delivers real-time control of various parameters right to your pedalboard. Sweetwater pedal geeks can't believe how many sounds are packed into this device.

Small Professional Delay/Reverb

I heard about Keeley and their quality effects they have come to be known for. I picked up the Delay Workstation to complete a grab-and-go board for jamming with my bassist and small gigs. I was blown away! I have owned a Boss DD7, a EHX Holy Grail, a EHX Cathedral, a Line 6 DL4, a TC Hall of Fame, and a TC Flashback. It has replaced all of them and has become my main time-based pedal. The quality is equal to or superior to all the effects I listed, in a smaller package. I noticed the higher fidelity almost immediately. I would say the only step up would be the larger offerings from Strymon which are $$$. Nothing seems lost with this pedal. The Reverbs are lush and complex, and the delays are perfect even at longer feedbacks. The Delay blend knob seems a little off center, meaning center should be 50/50 but a little to the left seems to keep the dry at line level. The Workstation has stereo out but mono in. I would have liked stereo in, to use stereo modulation thru it, but I use one amp so no big deal. Based on this pedal alone, my small board has become the Tone, Super Mod, and Delay Workstations from Keeley, with only a tuner and a custom micro amp switch. There is nothing I am missing. It is all there with very high quality. The only drawback is the tight spacing of the switches themselves. They are a little tight, but I have managed just fine with a little foot cant. I have a tuner, compressor, boost, two drives, two mods with tap tempo, a delay with tap tempo, a reverb, and an amp footswitch, all on the 18"x5" Pedaltrain Nano+. Being top mounted jacks, hooking up my cables for the effects loop is a cinch. If you are considering the Keeley Delay Workstation, or any other of the Workstations, wonder no more. They are the real deal! Worth every penny considering what you get in one box. Play on! Cheers!

Great pedal. Not perfect.

Well so far I love the sounds that come from this pedal. So many lush reverbs from such a small pedal. I am not a complicated guitar player as far as needing multiple sounds during a single set so knowing how to change and not being able to "bank" or save sounds is not a big deal. What is a big deal to me, and the reason for the rating, is the fact that the tempo is only on when delay is engaged. In other words, there is no way of knowing what your tempo will be till you actually engage the delay and then you can be way out of tempo till you tap it in. Very distracting trying to tap in the tempo as soon as possible so it's not noticeable. I've contacted Robert Keeley to see if there is a fix or possible mod to make the tempo always on so you can tap in the tempo prior to engaging the delay. If that problem is fixed, 5 stars!
