Flexible Handheld Dual-pattern Condenser

Tailor-made for vocals, the Shure KSM9 brings both nuance and subtlety to your live performances. It captures vocals with incredible detail, exhibiting clear articulation and precise audio reproduction, while its dual-pattern design offers amazing flexibility in a myriad of applications. This premium handheld condenser microphone boasts dual gold-layered, low-mass Mylar diaphragms for superior transient response and proximity control, along with a transformerless preamplifier for super-transparent audio reproduction. The KSM9’s advanced suspension shockmount system minimizes handling and stand noise, while a built-in subsonic filter eliminates unwanted low-frequency rumble. A plosive-eating 3-stage protection grille rounds out the KSM9’s impressive features. If you want studio-quality sound in demanding live environments, the KSM9 is an excellent choice.

Superior build quality ensures top-shelf sound

Over 90 years of mic-building experience went into the KSM9’s design, and it shows. Its dual 3/4-inch gold-layered, low-mass Mylar diaphragms exhibit superior transient response and proximity control, while its Class A, discrete, transformerless preamplifier yields incredible transparency, lightning-fast transient response, near-zero crossover distortion, and minimal harmonic and inter-modulation distortion. What’s more, an integrated 3-stage pop filter stops breath noise in its tracks. Premium electronic components, including gold-plated internal and external connectors, add to the KSM9’s superior build quality.

A top performer with pro-level features

The Shure KSM9 is jam-packed with the pro-level features you’d expect from a microphone of this caliber. Dual polar patterns enable you to toggle between cardioid and supercardioid polar patterns, providing you with endless flexibility. An advanced suspension shockmount system isolates the mic’s cartridge from handling and stand noise. A built-in subsonic filter eliminates the sub-17Hz low-frequency rumble caused by mechanical vibration, while a 3-stage protection grille minimizes plosives, wind, and other breath noises. At Sweetwater, we’ve found the KSM9 to be a top performer — it’s a surefire easy way to elevate your live vocal performances.

#1 ranked live stage vocal microphone tested
System matters. You need a super clean mixer, low noise quality XLR cables, a pair of decent midrange quality PA monitors or better, a must have Boss VE-500 vocal processor pedal, and last but not least, some knowledge of how to adjust your mixer properly. If you lack any of these above, skip buying this microphone. Any low microphones will do.
KSM9
Tone is very clear, great fullness in sound .
SHURE KSM9....NEUMAN KMS105
THIS IS A FABULOUS MIC, BEST IN MY OPINION....I ALSO BOUGHT THE NEUMAN KMS105 AND HAVE BEEN USING BOTH ... THEKMS 105 REQUIRED SOME PULL BACK TO MANAGE THE CLARITY WHICH IS DAZZLING...BUT...THS SHURE IS CONTROLLED BY DESIGNED AND MORE MANAGEABLE IN MY OPINION...I USE BOTH AND LOVE THEM...SEEMS LIKE SHURE INCORPORATES NECESSARY RESTRAINT LEVEL INTO THEIR EQUIP. ....SO MANY CHURCHES USE CHEAP MICS AND COMPROMISE THEIR VOCAL PRODUCT...GOOD MICS WOULD REVOLUTIONIZE THEIR PRODUCTIONS WHERE TOP DISH IS MOST IMPORTANT....GOD'S PRAISE AND WORSHIP
Beta58 step up.
I'm a student at our local School of Rock. We have done some gigs for the school. I've not had a chance to gig with this yet but in our noisy and cramped school studio I was impressed.

I'm a male tenor with a very bright voice singing mostly rock and metal with some full on screams. What I didn't like about the beta was it darkened my tone more than I'd like when I'm on the mic only to have it fall flat when backing off for a scream. I tried a telefunken m80 but that one was too bright and shrill.

This one sounds amazing. Bright but still with warmth and the proximity effect is mild so when I back off the mic I don't feel like all the power fizzled away.

So far I've not had any problems with feedback and it's been at least as resistant as my beta but we will see in a full live environment. Bleed also hasn't been an issue but I'm being very careful with placement to keep the drums from being directly behind me.

Overall it's performing better than I'd hope from a feedback/bleed perspective and the sound quality is as good as I could hope for.

Amazing microphone!
The KSM9 is a step up in clarity and brilliance from the Beta 87a, which I have been very happy with for several years. I mostly do solo and duo shows. In very loud stages, such as a 4-person rock band, in an echoey indoor stage it, like other condenser mics, it might pick up too much ambient sound. The cardioid-supercardioid switch is quite useful. For vocals in live performances this is my dream mic.

Having been a singer for well over 20 years, I have always looked for a microphone that would deliver excellent output and exceptional consistancy. The KSM9 is the first microphone that actually made singing easier! I could hear every thing I was doing! The supercardioid setting helped get my monitor volume up to a level that didn't have the soundman fighting with an EQ all night. I highly, HIGHLY recommend the KSM9 for every singer out there - no matter what style you sing!
