Flexible Dual-Pattern Performance for Stage and Studio

When you need premium performance onstage or in the studio, look to the Shure KSM141. This end-address, small-diaphragm condenser microphone boasts a gold-layered, low-mass Mylar diaphragm for superior transient response along with a transformerless preamplifier for super-transparent audio reproduction. The KSM141’s dual polar patterns offer amazing flexibility, while a built-in subsonic filter eliminates unwanted low-frequency rumble. A 3-position pad and a 3-position highpass filter round out the KSM141’s impressive feature set. The KSM141 possesses the coveted trifecta of versatility, durability, and precision, making it an excellent choice for live and studio applications alike.

Superior build quality ensures top-shelf sound

Over 90 years of mic-building experience went into the KSM141’s design, and it shows. Its super-thin, 2.5-micrometer, 24-karat gold-layered, low-mass Mylar diaphragm exhibits superior transient response, while its Class A, discrete, transformerless preamplifier yields incredible transparency, lightning-fast transient response, near-zero crossover distortion, and minimal harmonic and intermodulation distortion. Premium electronic components, including gold-plated internal and external connectors, add to the KSM141’s superior build quality.

A secret sonic weapon with pro-level features

The Shure KSM141 is jam-packed with the pro-level features you’d expect from a microphone of this caliber. A mechanical polar pattern switch toggles between a highly consistent cardioid and true omnidirectional polar patterns, making this mic perfect for a myriad of applications. A built-in subsonic filter eliminates the sub-17Hz low-frequency rumble caused by mechanical vibration. You also get a 3-position pad (0dB, -15dB, and -2dB) for handling high-SPL sources plus a 3-position highpass filter switch for counteracting proximity effect and reducing stand vibration noise. At Sweetwater, we’ve found the KSM141 to be a top performer — a serious sleeper hit — on acoustic instruments like violins and mandolins plus acoustic guitars and drum overheads. If you’re looking for a secret sonic weapon, then the KSM141 definitely fits the bill.

Reviews

Easily one of the best
This microphone currently dangles on my desk connected 24/7 for when I need to sample anything. The size is great, directionality and proximity are phenomenal, and it honestly doesnt matter what youre doing with it. From field recording, to overheads, to hi hat, acoustic, auxiliary percussion or vocals - you really have to try and make it sound bad.
Excellent purchase
I've only had this mic for a couple of weeks but I've laid down a few tracks and I'm really happy. I run an Audient interface and the sound quality is exceptional on my acoustic guitar. A great mic for the money.

Shure KSM141 rocks!
Great mic for acoustic guitar, piano, drum overheads!
Shure KSM141
This is a great mic for the money. My experience with this mic is limited to the studio and I've yet to be able to make it sound bad on an acoustic instrument. Sounds very nice as a spaced pair on an acoustic guitar or as the mid mic in a mid-side set up. It doesn't sound as good as some of the more expensive small-diaphragm condensers like the Neumann KM184, but for my money Id rather have the KSM141 because you get multiple patterns and a pad build in.

Very Accurate Mics
I bought the stereo pair of these mics for recording acoustic guitar. Still waiting on my interface so I've only used one at a time, but I can say that this is a super accurate microphone with very little coloring. If anything I would characterize it as a slight metallic sheen on top, nothing that a good preamp couldn't warm up. Picks up harmonics particularly well - highs are defined and clear, good lows and mids. Just needs a little more warmth like I say, but for a stereo pair of small's this is about as good as you can get outside Neumans. Perhaps for the money it's even a better deal. Someone recommended I go with these over and above the SM-81's. These were well worth it and also available in a stereo pair. Very accurate.
