Epic headphone for Electric Guitar practice.
I bought these to use with a fender micro amp for practicing my electric guitar without disturbing the wife or my young son. These are semi-open back so they bleed a little bit, but my wife says the resonant sound of the strings of my electric guitar are louder than the bled audio from the headphones, so that bleed is negligible. The sound quality? Tight and Crispy. The semi-open design eliminates most of the artificial bass, so the sound is more accurate. The comfort? It's brilliant, almost feels like nothing is there. These are the lightest feeling most comfortable headphones I've ever experienced. They even come with different ear cups for different sized ears. My ears fully fit inside of the default ear cups, which are generously sized. These headphones come with a standard headphone jack cable as well my as a coiled one. These headphones also come with an audio jack adapter (3.5mm to 1/4") so you can plug them directly into a guitar amp if you want. For guitar practice, these are more than good. Very happy with my purchase!

Honest headset
Having had a few headsets over the years, rotted foam, bad cables, etc, decided to try the Akg 240 mk2. Reading many reviews on these did help. The cables as well as the ear pads have held up wonderfully! These are not an easy drive with some sources, 55ohms is different from many others and therefore does require a headphone amp with good capabilities! The Akg headset is very honest , revealing good, bad, and ugly so to speak! Very good recordings really shine, recordings that lack , these headsets will reveal this too. Comfortable to wear for long listening sessions, lightweight, and the ear pads do not bring discomfort ! Very highly recommended!
Amazing Sound. And They Just Get Better.
If I remember correctly, I bought mine about 10 years ago. Around that same time I also bought a set of Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pro headphones. Shortly after the 2 year warranty the Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pro's got an issue. I think the voice coils blew. Or something like that. Before they died I keep going back and forth between these two headphones trying to decide which one I preferred. Right before the Beyerdynamics died I decided I like the AKG better. Good thing I chose them. So the dying of the Beyerdynamics didn't really bother me. I wondered how long the AKG's would last. Well they are still going strong. I thought the wire might give me a problem because my DAC is at he edge of a table next to my recliner and the wire hangs down so the wire coming out of the plug gets pulled on 24/7. Well it's been at least 10 years and not issue with it. I did one thing that improved the sound of these immediately. The soft pads got dirty after years of use so I got a set of Dekoni Audio Elite Velour Ear Pads for DT 770 Pro & AKG K Series and the sound just got better. I thought it might get worse since they are so soft. But nope. It actually improved the sound. So they are just about ready to be replaced and I will definitely get the same ones again. I am surprised that these aren't more popular on Sweetwaters site. They sound amazing. I see the price had gone up but what hasn't gotten more expensive? I wasn't sure about the stiff wire that goes above the headband. But when you are wearing them you don't even know they are there. So they don't bother me at all. I actually hang them from them on a hook by my recliner. If you want great sounding headphones that have a flat sound to them. Meaning the bass is not boosted. Then get these. If you like your bass boosted. Just adjust your EQ or hit the bass boost. Or try these for a while, then compare them and you will probably grow to prefer the more natural sound. But listen to these for a while before you decide.
Reliable with no doubt
Need I say less? These headphones have worked perfect for me with no flaw. Still own my headphones over a decade strong and still look new. Did switch the pads since the original ones started to crack but after 10 years until doing so? Quality is unmatched.

This is like a monitor speaker with precision!!
Most headphones try to amplify sounds.
such as more bass and treble!
AKG studio headphones are different.
Very realistic and similar to monitor speakers,
The difference is that you are not involved in acoustic behavior.

What Do Our In-house Gear Experts Think?

The K 240 MKII headphones are a must for studio work. These great headphones are the updated version of the very popular AKG K 240. The semi-open ear cups fit all the way around your ear and provide an amazingly clear sound while being very comfortable. I use these regularly while touching up tracks and spot checking mixes. I've even relied on these for an entire mixdown when I didn't have access to a studio. My studio is not complete without them!
