Closer to Jimi Than Ever Before

Right-handed guitarists have never been able to get as close to the unique magic that Hendrix harnessed as they can with the Fender Custom Shop Jimi Hendrix Voodoo Child Stratocaster. By utilizing a reverse headstock, reversing the bridge pickup's slant, and even reversing the magnets, the Voodoo Child Strat sings with the recognizable tone that helped propel Jimi's most memorable passages. A Custom Shop NOS finish completes the package, ensuring that your guitar's nitrocellulose lacquer coat is as fresh as the day Jimi's original left the Fullerton factory.

Reverse headstock offers far more than looks

Few players have cut such an iconic stage presence as Jimi Hendrix and his flipped-over Strats. But the look of that reversed headstock brought Jimi way more than an identifiable look. It increased string length to the low strings, which adds tension to the strings, giving you a more pronounced tone and a tighter feel. And the shorter string length of the higher strings lightens the string tension for easier bending. That's why if you want to nail Jimi's vibe, you need a Strat like his.

Classic Hendrix tones

Sweetwater's Hendrix disciples agree: the Custom Shop '69 single-coil pickups on this Jimi Hendrix Strat exactly replicate the tone that inspired (and continues to inspire) countless guitarists back in the late 1960s. The vintage-style construction ensures you'll hear a clear output, with plenty of Strat chime. But it's the reverse bridge pickup and the reversed magnets throughout that set this trio of pickups apart. By flipping his guitars over, Jimi tilted the pickup in the opposite way from most Strats. By offering you the same construction, you'll attain tight, warm sounds, with enhanced upper harmonics.

NOS finish for brand-new feel and character

Regardless of what Jimi's Strats looked like after he was done with his famously destructive performances, when they came out of their case for the first time, they looked just like this beautiful Jimi Hendrix Voodoo Child NOS Stratocaster. NOS — New Old Stock — means the guitar comes to you looking and feeling like the polished gem it is. From its smooth-as-glass nitrocellulose lacquer finish to the gleam of the guitar's chrome hardware, this instrument will take on your character however you play it.

Fender Custom Shop Jimi Hendrix Voodoo Child Stratocaster Features:

  • Solidbody electric guitar crafted to nail Hendrix's definitive tones

  • Reverse headstock nails the classic look while offering enhanced playability

Reviews

VooDoo Child NOS Stratocaster
This is my first custom shop guitar as well as my first made in the USA guitar.I bought this because I was tired of buying junk guitars in the $ range that are not playable without lots of set up work and upgrading parts. These guitars are made in Mexican and Indonesian sweat shops and peddled to unsuspecting customers on Amazon. My sales engineer Levi Medina assured me this stratocaster would be night & day difference from that other garbage and boy was he right. The attention to detail is astounding on this thing, no sharp frets, no fret buzz, and intonation was spot on. This guitar played amazing right out of the box. If your on the fence about one of these, just buy it and you will be glad you did. This is the best purchase I have ever made in my life !!!
Best strat I’ve ever heard or played.
Wow. Not many words needed to convince anyone how great this guitar is. If you've heard it and played it, you'll believe it.
Such a rich, ribbony tone, with tight, crisp, sustainable highs. The bottom end is Hendrix to a T. You want that Hendrix or SRV sound. Look no further. I can play this guitar for hours, it feels so comfortable. Custom shop really is on point. Thank you Fender!

Great guitar!
I'd recommend this guitar to any Stratocaster lovers out there. The pick-ups give authentic Hendrix tones, and won't disappoint!
Voodoo Strat
This is probably the best custom shop guitar I have. The tone and playability is absolutely amazing.
Unbelievable
I grew up with strats , I've had and have bunches , I always wanted one with a reverse headstock and decided to pull the trigger on this one , I was a little nervous about the fret board radius where I'm used to flatter boards but this thing is amazing , just plays like a dream , strings bend with ease and just all around a very awesome guitar . I have a collection of PRS , custom shop Gibson , many other fenders, and this guitar quickly became my go to , I always pick it up first and just can't seem to put it down , and it's not like you can go wrong with Jimi !!!! If you're thinking about it just go for it and I'd also like to once again thank Ed my rep for always taking care of me !!
