Capturing the Upright Bass Tone

Looking for your new tonal obsession? The Thomastik-Infeld Jazz Flatwound Bass Strings are designed to reproduce the legendary tone of their Spirocore upright bass strings for electric bass. These flatwound strings are made with a nickel ribbon winding around a silk-wrapped steel core. This results in a string that has the mellow tone of a flatwound string with a slightly brighter attack and added midrange grunt. Many bassists here at Sweetwater use Thomastik-Infeld strings to provide extra oomph to cut through the mix when they need to. The Thomastik-Infeld Jazz Flatwound Bass Strings pump out legendary flatwound tone with extra brightness and attack that's perfectly suited for jazz.

Thomastik-Infeld Jazz Flatwound Bass Strings Features:

  • Nickel ribbon winding provides maximum tonal depth
  • Pliable steel core wire increases sustain
  • Silk wrapping around the core wire offers a mellow tone and soft feel
  • Flatwound construction extends string life
  • Bright attack and midrange focus cuts through the mix

Reviews

Unbelievable Tone & Comfort
In short, these strings are worth every penny. They have an amazing tone and their low tension (compared to other flat wounds I've tried) make them incredibly comfortable to play.
Worth Every penny
Are they expensive- yes. Will they have you questioning your financial rationale- yes. Are they actually better than other flatwound strings for double the price- yes. These feel like flatwounds that are first cousins with round wounds. They're not too dubby or dead sounding but are still super warm like flatwounds are supposed to be. If you're on the fence, just do it.

TI jazz flats
After much consideratio I purchase a set and put them on my Stingray HH4 WOW!! I love the tone and feel of these string can't go wrong these worth the money

Believe the hype!
I can't say enough good things about these strings. I bought a set in January 2018 and they've been on my Squier VM Fretless Jazz since then (save for two months where I tried some other strings).

These strings have such a smooth tone and feel. They slot perfectly into the mix at church and they offer a variety of tones with knob adjustments on my bass. They feel outstanding under my plucking hand and they sound great with a pick.

10/10 would recommend these strings. I'll get a set for my next bass, too, whenever that happens.

Smooth, melodic strings!
Recently 'assembled' a Jazz bass- picked up Seymour Duncan Apollo pups... decided TI Jazz flats would be the best fit for this bass! I've heard much about TI's... hoping I get long life from them. Tone is excellent!!
Music background: 40+ yrs playing bass
