With the Radial Reamp JCR you can take a pre-recorded guitar track, and send it through a second distortion pedal and amplifier and then slightly delay the track to add a thick doubling effect. You could also use the Reamp JCR from a voice track to a distortion pedal to ad some grit to a performance.

Input Control and Noise-free Output

The Radial Reamp JCR features include balanced line level input, a custom USA-made transformer that converts your signal impedance for use with guitar amps, three-position filter switch, 180-degree polarity reverse to bring your signal into phase, and ground lift options for noise-free operation.

Solid construction

As with all Radial products, the Reamp JCR is built like a tank to provide years of trouble-free performance. A welded I-beam internal skeleton provides a separate housing for maximum protection against external forces, which may cause stress on the PC board assembly while the outside bookend cover provides a protective zone for the switches, potentiometer and connectors. A full bottom no-slip pad performs double duty by keeping the Radial Reamp JCR from sliding around when placed on a vibrating amplifier while also providing electrical and mechanical isolation.

Very Accurate

Tracking guitars, I always want to have the option of coming back later to tweak the amp tone and try different mic positions, so I always record a direct in. Reamping with a line signal is a no-no because of the noise, so I decided to get this. My first order of business was to figure out where unity level was, and for my unit, it was 4.5 ticks away from maximum. Being able to dial in the perfect level and having the visual indicator to be able to set it again is a great feature. Second thing I did was to run a few tracks from my DAW to the interface -> TRS -> XLR input of the Reamp, and then out through the TS -> back into the interface direct to see just how accurate the signal is. With the ground lift on and the phase inverted, I was able to get close to a perfect copy of the original waveform. (Yes, with the phase switch off, the phase of the wave coming back in was inverted, so make sure to run some tests!) Running the tracks through my amp, I was very happy to hear very low noise, especially with the ground lift switch engaged, as I've been dealing with ground loop issues during recording and reamping. In my DAW, the copied signal had no noticeable latency when I zoomed in to compare the original direct vs the new signal. Best of all, when I inverted the phase of the copied track and played it with the original, there was barely any sound being played from my DAW which indicated the fact that the waveforms were close enough to each other that inverting one signal would cancel out so much of the other. I'm very impressed by how accurate this is, and sets my mind at ease because reamping is no longer a compromise on tone!

solid unit with various uses

This unit is not only for guitar re-amping. I have used it to eliminate ground hum when sending an aux feed to a mixing board for a PA, and the volume control allows new interface uses.

The perfect studio guitarist!

For 2 years I was thinking of buying a REAMP. I even wired my console with a patch point to an XLR with REAMP engraved on it. But... still, I mic amps, get sounds and record. Sometimes with a DI, but usually not. I am a huge believer in committing to a sound, after all I was raised on 24 tracks. Finally, with an important session, and time an issue I called my guy at Sweetwater and said send me one. Like most parents say when they have a kid, they wish they did it sooner... same thought here. I got a great direct sound for the session, some amp sounds for his headphones and all was well. Next day I edited the takes made a comp and sent out the guitar through my labeled patch point into the reamp and it was absolutely transformational. How could I have waited so long to record this way? I got the perfect tone, placed the mic perfectly taking the time I needed, playing select parts to make sure the amp reacted appropriately under each dynamic, and when it was all done, command + spacebar... and finished. Perfection! It's the only way I will ever record guitar from this moment forward, and I have been doing this for 25 years! Honestly, a paradigm shift. Amazing!
