Fender's "Deluxe" Jazz Bass Redesigned and Refined

The Fender Standard Jazz Bass has been time-tested and musician-approved. Leo Fender designed and built the world's first electric bass guitar in late 1951, and every electric bass made since then is unquestionably a direct descendent. But Leo was never satisfied, so in 1960, he introduced the "deluxe model" Fender Jazz Bass. So inspired was that design that it has changed little over the years in appearance, though its evolution continues today with the 4-string Standard Jazz Bass. A shielded body cavity for quieter operation and a pair of pickups with surprising tonal versatility make the Fender Standard Jazz Bass a smart buy.

Fender Standard Jazz Bass 4-string Electric Bass Guitar at a Glance:
  • Lightweight, "offset waist" alder body
  • Maple neck with modern "C" shape
  • Dual, single-coil Jazz Bass pickups in a shielded body cavity
Lightweight, "offset waist" alder body

Bass guitars are big and that can mean heavy, too. Not so with the Fender Standard Jazz Bass. It comes with the distinctive "offset waist" alder body, which is resonant but relatively light — something you'll appreciate after grooving for two or three hours onstage.

Maple neck with modern "C" shape

Leo Fender wasn't actually a guitar player, so he didn't really know that guitars weren't supposed to have maple necks. Eventually, the blond maple necks became a Fender trademark. This standard Jazz Bass has a nicely balanced maple neck with a modern "C" shape.

Dual, single-coil Jazz Bass pickups in a shielded body cavity

Fender's early electric basses had just one pickup. So naturally, if one was good, two was even better. The Standard Series Jazz Bass has two single-coil Jazz Bass pickups in a shielded body cavity for quieter operation, both on the stage and in the studio.

Fender Standard Jazz Bass 4-string Electric Bass Guitar Features:
  • Iconic Jazz Bass design with 2 single-coil pickups
  • Offset-waist body design is comfortable to wear and play
  • Lightweight alder body is resonant yet lightweight even during long gigs
  • Individual volume controls let you balance the pickups perfectly to your taste and style
  • Shielded body cavity helps provide low-noise performance

The Fender Standard Jazz Bass is still a musician's favorite!

Purchased this bass as a second jazz for my band. The bass is beautiful and sounds as great as it looks! The Sweetwater service was awesome! I'm loving the service and the bass and I will be back for something else in the future! Keep rocking and buy this bass!

Fender jazz standard

Just bought this bass in special order lake placid blue from Sweetwater. Couldn't be happier. Fit and finish is excellent. The neck is thin fast and comfortable.the lake placid blue is GORGEOUS. Plugged into my fender Rumble 500c and was blown away again. She sounds as good as she looks and feels. Get this bass you won't be disappointed. Finally my sales engineer Joel Helton. Professional intelligent hard working. The customer service I've received is nothing short of amazing.

Ive not been playing long, but I was playing an old passive Ibanez GSR200 and felt it was holding me back somehow. It wasnt in great shape but enough to learn the basics, scales, fretting, tuning, etc. It was time to upgrade bc I wanted to get serious about playing more. I wasnt open to the Jazz at first but as Im finding the more I play, I wanted the classic growl. I jam with a few dudes and play mostly classic rock/punk with heavy chords at times. I played a used one at the local store and loved it. Went home and bought a new black one. Mike sent me an email with pictures and updates. It came in packaged great, decent time, and ready to play. Just small tune to 2 strings. I play through an Ampeg BA115 and sounds amazing. Great fit and finish, good strings, nice balance and feel. Cant keep my hands off of it. Thanks to Mike and Sweetwater :)

Great guitar

Boy is this a great guitar. Right out of the box it was ready to go. It plays great and the overall feel and balance is more than expected. I was afraid it would be heavy but it isn't and there is no back fatigue while playing long stretches. Would definitely recommend.

A classic bass!

This bass has been an industry standard for over 50 years. The latest version is no different. It has great tonality and is a joy to play. The neck just falls right to hand! And Sweetwater did a great job on set-up. Intonation and action were just what I had hoped for! Can't beat the quality and service. A great deal all around!
