Like a Microscope for Your Mixes

With the iZotope's Insight, you'll see what your mix is really made of, with meters for loudness, levels, sound field, history, intelligibility, spectrum, and spectrogram. And version 2 takes it to a new level with plenty of exciting new features. The Intelligibility Meter indicates whether or not dialogue is being overshadowed by the rest of your mix. iZotope Relay routes any specified tracks or buses to Insight 2 for analysis. Beyond that, you'll benefit from a full range of loudness standards and multi-channel support up to Dolby Atmos 7.1.2. You also get an updated look and feel with resizing and a customizable layout. With Insight in your toolbox, you'll fine-tune your mixes faster and easier than ever.

Ensure that your dialog tracks are loud and clear

Insight's Intelligibility Meter is a must-have for post-production work. It takes the guesswork out of setting dialog levels by showing you whether or not dialogue is being overshadowed by the rest of your mix. It compares the dialog to the rest of your mix, providing you with a recommendation as to how loud it should be. It's a breeze to use — just select between different target Listening Environments, ranging from low to high noise. Thanks to Intelligibility Meter, dialog tracks will be loud and clear on any sound source!

Enjoy ultra-flexible routing

Perform detailed analysis by routing audio from any tracks or buses to Insight with its Relay feature. Thanks to Relay, you can use any plug-in while also strapping Insight across your entire mix. This supplies you with extraordinary flexibility while providing access to all of Insight's tools.

Benefit from across-the-board compliance

Insight can tackle any job you throw at it. You can set your loudness targets for EBU R128, BS.1770-1, BS.1770-2/3/4, ATSC A/85, OP-59, and more. On top of that, it supports multi-channel audio up to Dolby Atmos 7.1.2. At Sweetwater, we've found Insight to be an invaluable asset in a myriad of applications.

Reviews

Izotope Insight 2 disconnects
Given that Insight 2 provides some very helpful visual tools to aid mixing and mastering, it raises many questions and it's Help Manual is significantly less informative than the first version's Help Manual. Here are some questions I could not get answers to, even when turning in a ticket to Izotope: In a comparison between Insight 2 and the PreSonus Studio 1 Level Meter using the K-Scale (both companies say they consulted with Bob Katz) it can be seen that their Level readings do not match. Why? Also, the Insight 2 Help Manual does not indicate that both RMS and Peak values are displayed. (RMS is bright and Peak is faded.) Additional confusion is created by the Peak and RMS text at the top of the display with its highlight opposite to that of the meter. (Peak is highlighted and RMS is faded.) The capability to select Peak, RMS, or both should be available. The original Insight Help Manual answers these questions and provides much more information but it is very difficult to find. It also gives the impression that functionality was lost in the evolution to Insight 2. The real disappointment in the Help/User Manual is that it is written from the perspective of an expert and addresses 'what' functions are available (though it does not include all the functionality) instead of 'how' to use the functions. This seems to often be a general problem with audio manuals. They are more of a sales brochure instead of a user's manual. While a nice tool, I found the tools provided in Studio 1 are easier to use and provide just as much information.

Disappointed
User presets crash ProTools 2020. I don't know if it works better with later versions of the DAW, but the earlier version of Insight doesn't have this problem. Izotope sucks for dealing with bugs, so not expecting it to be fixed ever. Otherwise, it works fine.
