’90s-tinged Soft Clipping with Adaptive Drive Circuitry
Sometimes, the fabled overdrive of your dreams isn’t gold or green — it’s blue! The Halcyon Blue presents an Origin Effects homage to blue-blooded overdrive from the ’90s that’s known for its visceral pick response, midrange cut, and, above all else, its genre versatility. As a brand that designs and builds pedals in the UK, Origin Effects is uniquely qualified to reproduce this originally British circuit using new modded voice options. The Halcyon Blue makes a phenomenal foundation for dirt pedal stacks, an always-on enhancer for taking clean tones to that elusive edge of breakup, or a simple way to goose an overdriven amp for greater saturation. The pedal’s soft-clipped midrange emphasis brings more note clarity to dense overdriven tones, and there’s even a Dry blend control for adding dry signal back in for shades of tone that the original can’t deliver. This drive is liquid glass incarnate; make it sound as smooth or jagged as you’d like! Discover which side you land on when you choose the Origin Effects Halcyon Blue overdrive pedal from Sweetwater.

Breaker breaker, check out the Halcyon Blue’s mod toggles!
Dual voice toggles are available to modify gain structures and frequency responses. The Mod switch ups the ante with more gain and bass to the point that Sweetwater guitarists, who usually prefer a green or a gold overdrive, were picturing a home for the Halcyon Blue on their boards. Players who use their guitar’s volume knob for live dynamic tone or level tweaks will love the pedal’s Adaptive Circuitry mode. When activated, as volume decreases, the Halcyon Blue’s midrange boost progressively fades. This makes full-frequency cleans and mix-slicing midrange both options using the same settings!
