Familiar Design with High-performance Upgrades

Gibson's Les Paul Classic 2017 HP solidbody electric guitar blends everything we all love about Les Pauls with many enhancements that turn them into high-performance instruments. The mahogany body is still capped with the familiar maple top. But this Les Paul Classic HP's Soloist neck profile delivers a new and extremely fast feel. Additions such as the G Force tuning system, an adjustable zero-fret nut, and a fast-access neck heel make the guitar a dream to play. The Les Paul Classic 2017 HP delivers familiar tones with a high-performance attitude.

Gibson Les Paul Classic 2017 HP Electric Guitar at a Glance:
  • Plek'd for precision playability
  • Legendary construction
  • Extra-wide Soloist neck
  • Punchy pickups plus HP appointments
Plek'd for precision playability

This Les Paul Classic 2017 HP feels fast and precise, thanks in large part to Plek processing. Typically reserved for top-dollar custom guitars, this process levels the frets with pinpoint precision, providing you with the most playable fretboard you're likely to own. Each note rings loud and clear, and the fret edges feel smooth as silk.

Legendary construction

The Gibson Les Paul Classic 2017 HP solidbody electric guitar boasts all the features and design elements that have made the Les Paul one of the most beloved electric guitar designs in history. The single-cutaway body sings with the familiar balance of mahogany's warmth and maple's clear sustain. Like many LPs through the years, the body has been weight-relieved to provide extra comfort. And the mahogany and rosewood neck is carved to Gibson's popular SlimTaper profile that delivers during chording and single-note runs.

Extra-wide Soloist neck

If you like the look of a classic Les Paul, but long for a more modern-feeling guitar, you'll love the Gibson Les Paul Classic 2017 HP's comfortable Soloist neck. This extra-wide neck was tailor-made for high-speed soloing, providing you with added width but the same string spacing. This moves the high and low E strings away from the fretboard edges, aiding in wide bends. And the neck's fast-access heel adds to the comfort by giving you unimpeded access to all 22 of the guitar's highly polished frets.

Punchy pickups plus HP appointments

Two of Gibson's best-loved humbuckers - a '57 Classic in the neck position and a Super '57 Classic in the bridge - give the Les Paul Classic 2017 HP the power, punch, and clarity of Gibson's legendary PAF pickups. Pull up on the volume controls, and you'll access bell-like single-coil tones. And every guitarist at Sweetwater has fallen for this Les Paul's high-performance appointments, including Supreme Grip speed knobs, next-generation G Force tuners, a titanium adjustable zero-fret nut, and a chrome Tune-o-matic bridge with titanium saddles and stopbar.

Gibson Les Paul Classic 2017 HP Electric Guitar Features:
  • Iconic Les Paul with modern features for today's guitarists
  • Familiar maple-capped mahogany body
  • Comfortable and fast SlimTaper Soloist neck profile
  • G Force tuning system ensures consistent performance
  • Gibson '57 Classic and Super '57 Classic humbucking pickups deliver a vintage voice with splittable options
  • Titanium zero-fret nut makes dialing the guitar into your preferences a cinch
  • Plek'd for precision playability
The Les Paul Classic 2017 HP is for LP fans who crave technical styles of playing.

Can't stop playing it.

First off I have to thank Ryan Clapper from Sweetwater, and my mom for helping me get this guitar. If you love Les Paul's then you will love this guitar. I don't really know where to begin, from the paint to the autotuners it's all awesome. I'll compare the neck to my 1988 les paul custom which I bought brand new, and it still plays great today. The neck on the classic is a little thicker, and just a tad wider. I love the zero fret, it really brightens up the sound. I did do my own set up on it and adjusted the truss rod, and set up the bridge. The bridge is a locking bridge which is a nice feature. The Pickups sound a little smoother then my 498t. There is plenty of pickup configurations, but for now I fine with the way it sounds. The auto tuners seem to take a little getting used to, I put new strings on it and it was a snap. Played a 2 hour band practice, tuned it before we started and tuned it at break. It stayed in tune, and was so much easier then using my pedal. It came with a cool Swiss army like tool and nice leather strap. The case is a beast, but you want to protect this investment. All in all I love this guitar, and I will be playing it as my main guitar for the rest of my life.

Les Paul Classic 2017 HP Gold Top

First off, the service from Sweetwater is first rate from their responsiveness to their quality of product, packaging and shipping. Chris Goldbach is my go to guy there at Sweetwater and never lets me down. Secondly, this guitar itself is sweet! The finish is flawless and it plays as nice as any LP I've played including some high end Customs. At the risk of offending you hard core "traditionalist", I love the new Pickup wiring options and YES even the G-Force tuners. I've seen nothing but G-Force bashing online but I'll tell you it works great and fast! As I'm talking to my bandmates and they are swapping out guitars/basses for different tunings, my guitar is ready to go in 15 seconds or less. Although the guitar looked nice with a lot of chrome, I went ahead and made it look like a classic Les Paul with a standard black truss rod cover and all the old school knobs plus I added the poker chip. I even did my own modification to the pickguard with "fake" screws and a real bracket so it looks exactly like the old school pick guards that are screwed in. Love the neck and you can feel that added width with the soloist neck. And the new heel/neck joint is awesome!!! That was one of the primary reasons I went with the HP. I love this guitar
