A New Class in Comfort and Sound Reproduction

You'll appreciate your favorite music on a whole new level with Sennheiser HD 800 S Reference Class headphones. This upgrade makes the gold-standard HD 800 headphones even better than ever with an untouchable frequency response for explosive lows and crisp highs, dual 6.3mm/XLR-4 cable connections to support a wider range of audiophile headphone amps, and new 56mm steel-encased transducers that direct sound to the ears at an angle for a more natural soundstage. Mix engineers will appreciate the full, un-hyped frequency response and low distortion for defining bass content in a track, and even casual listeners will appreciate the low-fatigue aerospace headband and plush handmade microfiber earpads. When you're serious about sound reproduction and want headphones that are true in every detail, Sweetwater recommends Sennheiser HD 800 S Reference Class headphones.

Circumaural for comfort, open ear for reference quality

Sit down and read this ... Slowly!

First, this is from a very experienced performer and LISTENER. A performer has to be able to listen to music and begin to experience it within before attempting to present a performance. Have in the past years, assembled a 11.2 very advanced listening center within an 11' by 11' room. Really great stuff. But, always has to be more! Well, after using a great media player coupled with the top Shure ear buds, was pleased with the results. Then other notions entered my head and decided to advance to headphones. Thus, enter the Sennheiser HD800S. Plugging them directly into the Oppo 105D Blu-ray player - which also happens to be a great DAC headphone amp - music is now being experienced in a whole new way. They are actually better than the 11.2 speakers. They are around me; the Sennheisers are encapsulating me within the performance. Now, there will be no attempt at technical issues or comparisons, just pure statements of reality. The speakers are great and you can hear all the sounds and voices and harmonies and nuances, etc. but these headphones take ME into an intimacy, that heretofore was unimaginable! For example: when listening to a Bach Cantata with an ear to the magnificent "everything" that is a true, pure Bach playing, to have it enhanced by the sounds echoing off the walls and buoying up my spirit of excitement of the moment and the architecture so true and clear displayed in a "up close and personal" way is beyond words. If there has to be a way of getting these headphones that means saving, thrifting, working extra hours, maybe borrowing on your home or selling your car and walking ( and that's great too, because you can have the joy of listening while walking - beware of passing people, cars, etc.!) then just do it. As far as bass goes, that is just impossible to believe! It isn't just bass anymore, it and treble, middle, etc is a beautiful part of the whole: a melding of all into a glorious experience.
